According to Stuff http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/golf/75295023/pga-tour-expected-to-return-to-sky-sport-in-2016-share-rights-with-coliseum the PGA rights will be shared in order to "increase audience".

Launch an online streaming sport - struggle to get the traction you'd hope....
Partner with a free-to-air broadcaster to show the first two rounds on FTA television (honestly anyone keen enough to watch anything but the final round is going to be a subscriber, right?).
And sell some of the rights to the previous broadcaster "in the interest of increasing the audience".

Have to be going for different demographics with this strategy, cant see much of an audience crossover.

Its ironic that the favourite GZ mantra is to ditch Sky, and how much will we pay for NF, LB, Fanpass, and the array of individual sports pay streaming sites? We wanted competition, but thats actually causing a lot of fragmentation

Quite possibly, if not likely. Its hard to make it pay, and to have it everywhere at the same time. I feel that right now, SVOD is a long way from mainstream, a long way. When it is the norm, the means to make it pay and be everywhere will be a lot easier. The other issue in todays society, is many seem to want everything for nix.

One day, when adding an SVOD sub is easy, viewing it is easy, the choices for everything will be easier and more cost effective.

Probably why they arent offering Top14 French Rugby this year either.  Not enough interest to justify paying the dollars to obtain the rights.
Lets hope if other sports rights go online they're non-exclusive.  Limiting an offering just limits the audience and the chance of making it financially viable.

I know my father-in-law has watched a lot less golf this year.  He was never going to ditch Sky and extremely doubtful that he'd ever pay extra to watch one more sport.  I've never heard any grumbling (and he is a die-hard golfer) and I seriously doubt he even missed not being able to watch.

It's certainly making inroads. My parents live in a retirement village, and are dead keen to get into SVOD. They even asked me to help a neighbour get set up with it. The neighbours are now very happy Lightbox subscribers (was the setup that worked best for them with their technology stack and desired TV programs). They're even willing to forgive the broken AirPlay from their iPad, and are happy enough to AirPlay from their iMac (once I taught them how to do it).

I bought my Dad a Chromecast as an early Christmas present, and he's also keen to ditch his traditional Sky subscription. Sports was a stumbling block for him (especially rugby), but now that Fanpass has monthly rates he's quite keen to see if that will work as a replacement.

Not sure how common it is, but when we're at a stage where it is totally feasible to introduce this technology into a normally technology averse group*, I'd say we're definitely making progress. :-)

*And trust me; the neighbours where VERY bad with their stuff. I was only able to get them up and running because they had not changed the default admin password on their router, as they had no idea of their Wi-fi password.

I feel that while ads are great, they are too few to give much penetration to SVOD. The normal ad types don't work, we need info ads, to prove that actually, SVOD is normal,  its not hard its not a geek thing. At the very least that type of ad that spreads the word should sow a seed to at least call the IT nephew, grandkid, son to get the low down.
Once it gets traction from the non IT crowd, I can certainly see it taking off, literally

Yeah. Most of the current ads seem centred around watching content on your laptop or tablet. Thats not the way consumers in many market segments want to view it. Clearing up any misconception that SVOD=watching on your computer would go a long way towards improving uptake.

Coliseum have confirmed that PGAtour will remain exclusively live as a streaming product for the next two years (with right of renewal).

"It is highly unlikely that the PGA Tour will be shown on Sky. That will remain a dedicated subscription product."
But European Tour, Asian Tour, Presidents Cup, Champions Tour, LPGA Tour and Web.com Tour might make it back to TV.
"The format of our product suits that young audience because they can access it wherever, whenever they want. If you are a 15-year-old kid and you have a tablet or smart phone or access to a computer you can get it for free."

ie - big middle finger to the core golfing fraternity.  Good on them for trying to get the younger audience interested tho.

And they will make Lydia Ko's defence free as a stream.

I don't know that 15 year olds are that into golf... I know I wasn't...

I think the idea behind Coliseum was great - the execution was just lacking. Pretty awful launch, some teething issues, technical issues here and there (eg Chromecast support and inability to video out from a tablet easily etc).

Screenscribe are reporting that 2016 European Tour will not be offered in the streaming service.

Apparently not enough people watching to justify the costs.

So Sky have picked up the European Golf rights.  Thought that it might have made it to the "Blokes Channel" aka TVNZ Popup.

Wonder if PGAtourlive subscribers will be getting a discount??  Or is it pay the same for less content?
