I love Netflix but Ive actually started to become addicted to TV shows. What annoys me about netflix is, its TV seasons always have to wait ages before they are legally available to put up.

So is there a service which offers current TV shows but also passed series? Hulu seems to be only the last few episodes which is no good to me.

Not of all shows. Some only go back 5 or 6 eps - we had that problem with The 100 last season. Others, like Brooklyn Nine Nine, have every episode from the pilot onwards.

Maybe you can use a combo of Netflix for old seasons and TVNZ OnDemand for new season?

TVNZ screen a lot of their US shows the same day as the US on OnDemand, before they put it on TV1 or TV2.

yeah its actually a bit complicated with all the flappn rights being all over the place. hopefully one online service can slowly start securing all the major shows. there is always something on netflix i havnt seen, but i didnt even get the update saying the second season of the 100 had been uploaded, this is kind of what started my search.

i hope there is a second season of marco polo coming, being netflix original and all.

so many show of watched like 1 season of. i did watch all of SoA and breaking bad and californication (wish that didnt have to end).

started watching Dark Matter, love it. Almost sucked me into watching farscape but then i remembered it was an aussie american show.

watched the final episode of my fav all time tv show, "peep show" UK. was a total let down of a final season. they only did 6 25 min episodes a season. i found the mitchell and webb stuff just crap.

Netflix usually has an icon which alerts you to new seasons added.

TVNZ Ondemand just launched their alert service which tells you when a new episode of a show you add to your favourites has been uploaded.

Alerts to your IPhone too!

Best way to keep up to date with the latest season of your fav show!

We use a combination of Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Instant Video.

Lots of stuff on Amazon Instant Video free with a Prime Subscription ($99/yr).

Bittorrent has all episodes of all shows ever! So does Usenet :-)

That has all the shows at the soonest possible time, in less lossy formats than streaming.

If you insist on paying (which is good and noble), perhaps you can just subscribe to either many services, or one, and make the difference with torrents. Streaming services are like TV channels. They compete for rights and licenses to various things. So there will never be one service with all tv shows. So to compare it back to old TV, the paid solution would be to buy more than one streaming service.

Unfortunately I agree - I had been moving towards more streaming services, even giving SlingTV a go (off topic, but what a crap interface that has). But with the obvious moves of the studios (read rights holders) to keep pushing regional boundaries, it all gets too hard. Especially when seasons of the SAME show are split over services.

The BEST service is surely one that is easy to use, as in "I want to watch all episodes of XYZ" and then be able to do so without worrying about DNS, VPN, Torrents, Usenet, file formats, downloads, copyright issues, regional variations, crappy dubs, weird subs, resolution restrictions, sound issues, etc, etc. All of which come back to some sort of studio restrictions.
