I've read many users stating that they hate the horizontal artwork on the Apple TV app. Well, good news; tvOS, iOS, iPadOS, and macOS 26 betas brings back vertical poster art to the TV app instead of the horizontal tiles we’ve had the last few years.

So, from now on, I will be reverting back to vertical artwork used in my posts.

Another bit of information for the upcoming tvOS 26 update for the Apple TV 4K. And it's something that will bring the media box closer than ever to physical media.

I have hoped for, but never really expected the Apple TV 4K to include the option to passthrough Dolby Atmos True HD 7.1 to my Yamaha receiver, but its rumoured to be happening with the new tvOS update. Many websites are commenting on the expected inclusion in the update, so it looks like it is going to happen.

Apps etc. will need to be updated as well to allow for it, but that's not likely to be a problem.

Also announced on June 10th

Apple today announced tvOS 26, making Apple TV even more immersive, enjoyable, and convenient. Hopefully passthrough will work with all versions of the AppleTV 4K, seeing as Apple has long touted the A-series of chips as real workhorses with CPU power to spare.

Just thinking... The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic World haven't upgraded to DV/DA yet. The other titles were upgraded very promptly. I'm hoping that its still going to happen.

tvOS 26 will be compatible with all Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD models, but some of the new features will only be available on newer Apple TV models.

The new Liquid Gas design with shimmery app icons and see-through elements will only be visible on the Apple TV 4K (2nd Generation) and Apple TV (3rd Generation).

There are rumours of a 4th Generation model coming late 2025, but nothing has been confirmed by Apple.

tvOS 26 is currently available as a developer beta and not recommended for everyday users. The update will be released later this year and could be released with the rumoured new Apple TV 4K (4th Generation).

I was checking some of my films which hadn't upgraded to either Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos and I found that one of them had slipped past me somehow.

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Honor Among Thieves has sneakily upgraded its audio to Dolby Atmos. It was already Dolby Vision, so I'm a happy camper.
