I have almost finished the refresh of my Man Cave. My Dolby Atmos/DTS:X surround system has been dismantled and replaced by a pair of Apple Homepods 2. They sound really good, but, as expected, not as immersive, or punchy as my old system. I just needed to streamline the room; Four floor standing speakers a subwoofer and a large centre speaker left me with a cluttered space and now that I have gone all digital, the Homepods 2 (Atmos decoding) paired with my Apple TV 4K (2nd Gen.) give me all that I need for my music and movie audio, and Siri is a most helpful assistant. For night viewing when my wife is in bed, I use the excellent Apple Air Pods Max noise cancelling headphones.

A new longer Entertainment Unit gives me the separation that I need for the Homepods 2. The Entertainment Unit was a flat pack, which took me hours to put together, after having to pull it apart twice because I had some pieces about face 😁. I also removed my single seater movie chair (gone to my son) and I am waiting for a new 2-seater sofa to arrive

A new computer and 27" monitor from PB Tech is an absolute joy to operate. I ditched my Dell all-in-one, with it's bloat ware that I couldn't totally get rid of.

The last piece of the puzzle is a new TV. My Panasonic 65" OLED is also going to my son, and after much research, I plan to replace it with a TCL LED TV, the extremely well reviewed TCL 75" C8K. I missed it in the Black Friday sale, so I am waiting for Boxing Day and hope that it will drop to the BF sale price again. I love Sony TV's, but they are pricing the average person out of the market for their flagship models. Reviews are putting the TCL right up there with Sony's Bravia 9 flagship model, at half the price or less. There comes a time when buyers have to forego a possibly slightly better TV and take into account the economics of their purchase.

Hopefully, this refresh will be my last (but, never say never 😁)

My Apple Store library is storing many films that I haven't watched yet, and I am looking forward to doing some catching up in the new year.

Anyone looking forward to the third Avatar film?, which is due for general release in NZ cinemas on December 19th.

Avatar: Fire and Ash runs for 3:19 including credits, which is a long time between rest room visits for some people. I'm not sure how well this film will perform at the Box-Office, I can't see it making well over US$2 Billion like the first two and with a reported budget of US$400 Million it needs to do well.

I have the original films in my library and I enjoyed both of them, mainly because they look and sound amazing on my home set up. I found the special effects to be the real winner for James Cameron, and I expect that the latest offering will have lots of new innovations that will wow audiences. But how long can the eye candy keep audiences going back for more?. There are two more releases planned, so it will be interesting to see if people are still going to flock to the cinema in great numbers.

I really hope that Avatar will continue to be a successful franchise, right up to, and including the fifth film. I will definitely watch "Fire and Ash" at home when it get's a digital release, then I can pause it to take a bathroom break whenever I need to 😁
