Just ran 1news through PC with addin, as low as .38 and 3Mb/s. Sat around 1.2-2.3 for most. 720p stereo aac naturally.

Similar story for From. It isn't a great test but doesn't bode well for all the AC3 and 1080 profiles sitting there yet to be allowed to be used does it.

I still tell people now unless you're using a UHF you're missing out. Terrestrial Not a standard option on builds now either I don't believe.

RunningMan:

Apple TV app 7.0.2 is released.

Minor improvements only. App doesn't lock up when you select a live channel now - you can select another channel or return to the home screen without a crash but when you change channels, the new channel only has audio, no video. This is just garbage. It doesn't seem as if even rudimentary testing is being done.

Recently watched stuff is still completely broken. Just watched an episode of a show, and where it wants to resume is a different episode in a previous season.

Picture quality is still dreadful on some shows. Watched an episode of From and the average bitrate is still under 1Mb/s. This is a show that's only released in the last couple of weeks - I don't believe the original recording is that poor.

We love 'From'.

We watch on a Firestick (streaming) and are happy with the picture, even though the TV is only 1080p.

The bitrate seems to be show dependant. As a contrast, fired up something totally different, Downton Abbey. That's coming through at pretty close to 4Mb/s average which from the previous table is most likely 1080p25, so that rules out the client and local network.

It's either a server config thing, or higher quality streams simply are not available on some shows. Either way it's pretty poor experience.

@alisam do you have any way of verifying the bitrate and/or resolution of what you have for From?

With the 1Mb/s stream on the ATV the picture looks very soft and small text becomes unreadable.

Sorry, no idea how to do either of what you are asking. I am just a regular user.

If you ask me to do something (on the TV, Firestick) then I will. But not tonight as the better half is watching.

(We are up-to-date with 'From').

@Dochart did you see this post?

We acknowledge that viewers are presently unable to preview landscape mode on the iPad when utilising the home screen.
This occurs because the new platform does not currently support landscape orientation; however, it will be addressed in an update in the future.

Despite only having landscape content to stream, the platform doesn't actually support landscape. Who signed off on that?

Is anyone able to get casting to work?

I have a Chromecast (1st Gen) and it works with Netflix, ThreeNow, YouTube, Spotify but the only app that doesn't work is TVNZ+

I’m not sure what type of casting you’re talking about but FWIW I can cast from TVNZ+ app on my iPad to our LG TV.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
