I received an email today saying that TVNZ+ will be getting an upgrade sometime in mid to late April.
They describe it as a behind‑the‑scenes upgrade to improve the streaming experience, but the only change they mention is an updated login process.
Does anyone have more details about what’s actually changing?
I’m really hoping this includes higher bitrate and at least 1080p.

Looks like a whole new platform, which will prove interesting for tools like the Kodi add on.

The update is in and unfortunately it looks like the stream quality has not been improved. They now give you the option of choosing between 3 quality options (low, medium, high). High does not look good.

I have not noticed a lot of difference quality-wise on Apple TV box.

Annoyingly I can't go back to the home screen from live tv without restarting the app.

It has however stopped defaulting to subtitles when I am watching live tv.

My continue watching list is also months old so I will have to search out regulars again.

Playing movies, Stand By Me, mostly 360p and some buffering. Black Hawk Down simply stops and buffers every few seconds. Coro and Q&A are fine.

It's even worse than that. Once you select a live channel, that seems to be the last input you can make. Watch that channel forever or restart the app.

It's buggy, slow and frustrating to use. Must have employed some WIndows 11 developers to help out ;-)

Kind of glad it's not just me then...

As far as this sort of app goes, this release is pretty dire.

I wonder if they took a snapshot some time ago and have used that. My List seems to be a bit out of date, with stuff I've watched and removed from the list back on there again.

Installed the upgrade and signed in (using a pass code sent to my email)

Not working well for me .

I normally use the TVNZ app on my Sony TV
It started OK and now cant watch anything as it says.  Ooops something went wrong.  ERROR CODE 00420201
TRY AGAIN or CLOSE.   Have re started the TV and back to square one.

Also tried my laptop and using the Chrome browser, same issue.

Are others able to watch anything ?

Thanks

My continue watching list is also very old. Things I have been watching are missing watched episodes too. Most annoyingly I don't want to watch the things on that list and there is STILL no way to remove them.

Tried to watch something I did want to watch, and 'Error Code 40250490' is the only result; tried several times.

Utterly useless and a total failure in my opinion.

If this was my workplace we'd be rolling back the change and doing a bunch of in-depth testing/fixing before trying again.
