The ongoing saga of the "new" Apple TV 4K continues. Insiders still don't know when the new media box will be released by Apple. Some say April/May, others say it could be as far away as September.
Key Reasons for the Delay:
Siri & Apple Intelligence Integration: The main hold-up is ensuring the new Apple TV serves as a central hub for a more personalized, intelligent Siri.
Software Delays: The enhanced AI features were initially planned for an earlier launch but have been delayed, pushing the new Apple TV, and a potential new HomePod, to a later release.
Hardware is Ready: Reports suggest the hardware (potentially featuring the A17 Pro chip) is finished and has been for some time, simply waiting for the software side to catch up.
Stock Levels: Reports of low stock of the current Apple TV 4K often indicate an imminent refresh, but the AI-driven software, rather than hardware manufacturing, is the bottleneck
While an update is long overdue, the focus is on launching a device that supports advanced AI-powered tasks rather than just faster specs.

BOX-OFFICE NEWS:
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has hit the ground running at the worldwide box-office in it's first five days of release.
Worldwide the film is already at US$372 million and should become the first to hit a billion this year. It would be the first non-Disney Hollywood release to reach a billion across the globe since Barbie and The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023.
The world seems to have fallen out of love with Pixar. Their latest film; Hoppers, has grossed over US$332 Million worldwide in five weeks. A long way short of 2024's Inside Out 2, which grossed almost US$1.7 Billion worldwide.

I boosted my Disney/Pixar collection today by adding Ratatouille, Wall-E and Monsters Inc./Monsters University bundle. I also grabbed Point Break (1991) as it was down to $4.99 for the first time.

Almost pulled the trigger on Point Break, but bought The Nice Guys instead ($4.99) which I have yet to see. Already have those Pixar movies except for Monsters U. :)

I bought The Nice Guys a while ago in a $4.99 sale. Must add it to my list of re-watches.
I collected all of the Pixar films on physical media, up to Lightyear, which was one of the most disappointing (along with Cars 2). I just keep adding to my digital collection each time that there is a sale. Except for the 2-Film bundles ($17.99), I can't say that I have seen any of them go below $9.99 for a stand alone film (I may be wrong).

Using my free PC word processor (Libre Office), I keep a fancy list of all of my Apple Store/iTunes movie titles that I have purchased. For the most part they are in alphabetical order, but I do like to have franchises in chronological order.
A while ago I purchased a bundle containing all of the Fast & Furious films. When it came to entering them in my list, I realized that whoever thought up the titles of each film, didn't consider naming them in some sort of rational order.
Just as a reminder, here are the actual films and official titles in order of release.
The Fast and the Furious (2001)
2 Fast, 2 Furious (2003)
The Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift (2006)
Fast & Furious (2009)
Fast Five (2011)
Fast & Furious 6 (2013)
Furious 7 (2015)
The Fate of the Furious (2017)
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)
F9: The Fast Saga (2021)
Fast X (2023)
Just so that I can keep them in some sort of rational order, I have placed in front of the above titles - The Fast Saga 1, The Fast Saga 2 etc. Well, it keeps me happy having things make sense to me 😁😁😁
EDIT: It didn't look right when I included Hobbs & Shaw, so I have decided to enter it as a stand alone title. You can call me fussy, but I prefer fastidious 🤪

I was going to buy a 4K late last year, but thought the new one due so hang on, as I still have the first HD Apple TV on one TV. To my surprise the HD is still getting updates and works fine. Around 10 years old.
I’ll still hang on as believe the new one will be a big upgrade to current Apple 4K, believe it will be far superior for games also.

Yes, Apple are very good at supporting their "older" tech releases. I don't know how long it will continue with the Apple TV HD, but the newer boxes do support more or all of the updates, and the new one will likely include tech that won't be compatible with any of the previous Apple TV releases. It's innocuous on my cabinet, but it's such a magical little box.
