I had issues with DNS4me last night. Had left it on and was watching F1 through it. Changed to 2Degrees DNS and didn't buffer at all then.

This isn't terribly surprising. For most providers in NZ, Akamai use your DNS server as an indicator of where you are and therefore what Akamai edge node you should be served from.

While for many CDNs, using your ISP DNS isn't critical, for Akamai, on some ISPs, it can be important - so if you have issues I highly recommend using your ISP assigned DNS.

Cheers - N

Yup wasn't a complaint. Was v happy with the picture after I changed it.

Think this might be one to be highlit far closer..

It's not only your provider, but can also be your dns provider in some cases. which might throw some off guard..

I think Spark is having lots of issues and is applying a blanket approach to customer service.

I've been having issues as the spark website kept rejecting my payment method - eventually it worked, but I had already raised a complaint ticket and then  an hour later I had an email from Spark with a free code for the RWC tournament pass...

I never asked for it or was told about it, but I had a reply from Spark asking me to try my payment method again and then this second email giving me the RWC for free.

I'm still having issues though and have not being able to actually use the code they gave me.

So as of write now I have a RWC tournament pass code that I can't use - maybe do a random draw and give it to someone here who wants it?

To shield users, I've just had a play with Spark Sport. Currently on the 1.3.1 release and chucked on the new 1014 episode and it managed to switch to a hd stream pretty quickly.

Where did you get 1.3.1 release from?

And once again the 'is my stuff broken or the feed?' goal posts have been shifted for lack of a better pun. :)

heh so it has, have spark built in an auto-update in to the apk so it can update away from google play?  I had to log in again but the app was on the newer version and as per @tanivula the HD stream came up quicker, much quicker.

Wow, so I am happy now. Version 1.3.1 is in my devices and I have to say I am pretty happy with the picture and quality.

I'll be using Japan v SA this weekend as the benchmark but if they can sustain this during RWC I won't be too unhappy.

I still get some motion issues, but they are minor enough I could ignore them I think.

Good news. Im hoping the Japan RSA will be hugely popular. Its a taste of the RWC, lets see what RSA is like, lets see what the RWC Pass is like. I have no interest in a Japan vs RSA Test but I'm keen as to watch it for those three reasons

I want to see if we can get through 2 hours of sport, with it under load and see it go smoothly (in every sense of the word). If it doesn't then I suspect Rugby Fans are in for a long tournament.

It's open to current SS Subscribers and RWC Pass Holders, I think it would be better if they opened it to everyone who had ever had a trial and advertised the snot out of that, so they could get some real world load experience.

For the record, I don't just mean bandwidth and network load.

Yeah ditto, the bokkes v japan will be watched with interest to see how the platform works.  Will be the first time I'll see live sport on the platform. Will be mostly tweaking motion flow settings on the TV to get the stuttering / dissapearing ball sorted that I'm accustomed to with sports streams.
