I've just trying to tune in using  the free week trial. Wow, the feed is terrible. As above, its basically unwatchable.

I'm also finding the video stuttery, although the audio seems in sync with the video. Watching on UFB100/50 on Macbook Pro 2013.

Wow.

I'm a football nut. I used to watch every match that was on Sky - normally live, up all night.

I was prepared to give PLP a crack last year, despite the horrible miscommunication (lies) and poorly thought out accessibility (devices etc). But the free trial last year was so awful that I was scared off entirely. When I heard things had got a lot better a few months later, I politely asked for another free trial to quell my initial scepticism before purchasing - but they weren't prepared to do that, so I went without.

Cue the new season. Another free trial to test it out, with an excited optimism that surely things would be a lot better now.

It wasn't. Somehow, it was WORSE. It was _literally_ unwatchable. So stuttery, juddery, pixellated, even when the lowest stream quality was selected. Simply put - disgraceful.

The ridiculous thing is, that to get my fix, I instead found a couple of online live streams of the ManU game. That worked perfectly, in HD quality. Laughable!

Here I am, desperate to hand over $200 to PLP so I can watch some PL footy. And I can't.

I have been watching Netflix & Hulu in recent weeks, and have been blown away by the quality and delivery of the streaming. So there's no obvious excuse like "poor internet connection, hardware, etc".

However that doesn't excuse the fact that PLP are no further along with device/accessibility; what have they been doing the last few months?!? I want to watch high quality sport on my high quality 50" TV. There's no easy way for me to do this - no apps, no PS3 support, no proper Chromecast support.

But judging by the unwatchable quality, I guess it wouldn't help.

Unfortunately the entire operation is still so desperately amateurish. What a shame. Done properly, it really could have revolutionised TV in NZ. Instead, I'm crying out for SkyTV to eventually win back the rights. Another year of no PL & normal sleep patterns awaits.

Gutted.

Ok, just discovered that a lot of people using Chrome are having trouble. Tried Internet Explorer and works a lot better - it's actually quite watchable!

I had trouble with the united game with judder on airplay from my iPad, but the Leicester game was fine. then at half I fired up the quad view on my laptop and connected it via hdmi and it was great watching all the games and flicking to a specific game when there was a goal for the replays. had the spurs/hammers game on the other tv on tv1 via freeview so could watch all 5 games. the picture was better than PLP but PLP was good in its own right

Wonder what the performance is like for those on Linux that do not have access to IE?

Browser viewing in my opinion is the worst way to deliver content as each browser does things differently and even on a machine, the peculiarities can often change the performance.  PLP should have released applications rather than using browsers in my opinion.

New season, same old PLP rubbish.

I have an IT "ticket" raised with their senior techs since last season, and I was online to one of their techs during the Man Utd v Swansea game. Missed all the goals because I was forever emailing back and forth with my IP address, login name, etc. so they could run a trace on their QoS system. They couldn't even see that I was logged in, or see my IP address so god know what they're doing over there?!

I have (or have invested in to get my football fix) a Samsung PS51F5500 TV, a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy S3, my wife has an ipad mini. Quality of the live games on all of these devices is not good enough. And yes Samsung have definitely got their money's worth out of me over the last 18 months!!

1) Running on a Samsung PS51F5500 TV with the app installed. Picture quality was shockingly bad. Juddery, blurred, etc. No way was this HD.
2) Tried to then log in on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. User name not recognised, Email reminder not working, free trial link not working. Had to restart phone and seemed to work again. Tech asked me to try on both but obviously it didn't like the fact I was trying to view on different devices at the same time and crapped itself.
3) Audio was definitely ahead of the video so I knew the first goal had gone in before I saw it.
4) I am on VDSL (download 20-25Mb, upload 10Mb)
5) Sky GO quality for the World Cup was really good so PLP have no excuses
6) Quality of the preview shows on the TV (Premier League World and Match Pack) was amazing so how can they get the live feed so wrong? Does anyone know?
7) Couldn't see the Watch Live or Join-From-Start option they''d been raving about so missed the first 10 mins as it threw me straight in live.
8) I didn't even bother trying to run it on my laptop as that was where it all started last season and was appalling

I eventually watched the rest of the game on my phone in bed. Just about acceptable but still juddery

As I said to the tech - I really want this to work, I really do because it's a great product if they could only make it work.

Just watched the Arsenal v Crystal Palace game on the TV via iPad with Airplay and I must say the quality was quiet good. No buffering like there was at peak times last season, and unlike earlier this morning on my laptop (Man United game) there was no stuttering with the video.

I watched the West Ham v Spurs game on the TV via AppleTV & the iPad. Worked as good as it did last season, reasonably solid stream but the quality is still not anywhere near HD, with that distinctive 'judder' & dropped frames.

Tried to watch the other games on the PC via Chrome and it was unwatchable...!! Do PLP do any QA testing...? I strongly doubt it.......

I've just watched the Arsenal v Palace game. In chrome it was like watching one of those old 'flick' books you saw as a kid. Complete and utter rubbish. I switched to IE and although it finished 30 mins ago I still feel nauseous. I can do both BBC and Netflix with no trouble at all and yet this is awful.

agree with most of the above posts, the quality was disappointing, i used airplay and was hopeful as the quality of the preview shows was really good as  someone pointed out, picture juddery , commentary a touch ahead of picture and yes, nowhere near HD.  I will give it a month as im paying monthly thenif i can i am out of there if no improvement.

On Telecom VDSL 37/7 down and up speeds.

About the stuttering. (Not the chrome issue)
To me it looks slightly better than last season. Maybe its the 30fps this year vs 25fps last year?
However it's obviously far from perfect.
Don't know much abut streaming video, but wouldn't doubling the frame rate at the expense of definition make for a better viewing experience?
So, kinda half the pixels at 60fps compared to 4500kps at 30fps?

The is an issue with Chrome this season, believe it might have something to do with new plugins.

Recommend Firefox in the meantime as we get to the bottom of it.
