A film that is over 20 years old now (is it really that long) and one that I enjoyed at the time, is available for $4.99 in The Apple Store. (I just purchased it).

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a film for the whole family. It was primarily shot in New Zealand, with additional Winter and forest scenes shot in the Czech Republic and Poland. Based on the book by C. S. Lewis, the film was a major success for Walt Disney Pictures, and grossed US$745 million at the worldwide box-office.

In September 1940, after surviving the Blitz during World War II, the Pevensie children – Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy – are evacuated from London, England to the country home of Professor Kirke. During a game of hide and seek, Lucy discovers a wardrobe and hides inside, only to find that she has entered a magical winter world.....

I got tired of waiting for the new Apple TV 4K (Gen. 4), so I browsed the Apple online hardware store, and I found a Gen. 3 Apple TV 4K (2022 model) in the refurbished section, which was $40 cheaper than the RRP for a new one.

I ordered one, and the expected delivery date is Monday June 29th. I will then finally be able to hook up my Home Pods to my Apple TV Gen. 2 when I shift it to my lounge from my Man Cave. I will then sell my Gen. 1 model that is in the lounge at the moment.

I still plan to buy the new model when Apple decide to release it (possibly September), then everything will be shifted around again 😁

All four of the John Wick action movies are being offered at $4.99 each. Less than $20 will get you the whole franchise.

I recommend everyone browse the Under $5 section this week. Lots of good titles available.

Although Apple said that delivery would be Monday 29 June; I was pleased to receive delivery today Friday 26 June.

Having set up my new 3rd Gen. model in my Man Cave, I moved my 2nd Gen. model into my living room and finally got my HomePods connected to it. The difference from using the TV speakers, is absolutely night and day.

I have to say that I haven't noticed much difference between the 2nd Gen. and the 3rd Gen., but I know that the 3rd Gen. has 64Gb storage compared to 32Gb, an Apple A15 Bionic Chip compared to the Apple A12 Bionic Chip and it also supports 4K HDR10+, which I have tried by watching the start of Deadpool. Seeing the HDR10+ logo pop up on my TV when the movie started gave me great satisfaction (It's the little things that matter 😄). The remote has been upgraded to a USB-C connection from the old lightning connection.

The 4th Gen. Apple TV 4K is expected in September, but who knows? You Tube "insiders" have been telling us that the new model is coming for about the last 12 months. A faster processor, Apple intelligence and audio pass through are some of the rumours on YT. Let's wait and see.

I am now in the process of finding out what is a reasonable price to ask for my Gen. 1 model.

The time I notice the difference the most is with software updates. At least twice as fast to install on the newer device.

As we come to the end of the first half of the year, I was interested to know how the worldwide box-office was performing.

We had our first US$1 Billion success of the year with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. However, although the music byopic, Michael; did exceptionally well, it just couldn't quite make it to the magical figure. Toy Story 5 looks certain to be the next film to join Nintendo's plumber brothers, having already hit well over US$500 Million after only 10 days since release.

Upcoming movies that arguably could hit the US$1 Billion mark are; The Odyssey, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Michael are available to buy or rent from the Apple TV app store now.

Usage wise nothing really noticeable between them but if you are an Apple music user the gen 3 now isnt capped to a 48Khz bit rate output via HDMI but now goes up to 192Khz. So now those hi Res 192Khz tracks in Apple music can be played to their Max via a compatible soundbar/receiver. Also another Apple music difference...Their AI function to remove vocals from many tracks on that service is only available on the Gen 3. Not sure what HDMI or Processor limitation with the Gen 2 resulted in what we have.

I went into my Apple TV 4K (3rd Gen.) settings for the Apple Music app, but the best that I could select was 48Khz. However after a bit of googling, I found that yes, we can get 192 Khz after installing tvOS 27. My software is updated to 26.5, and that is the best I can get at the moment.

I believe that tvOS 27 and iOS 27 are due around September (don't quote me on that 😁). In the mean time, 48Khz will do just nicely.

TOP APPLE MOVIES FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE:

Project Hail Mary was easily the most popular film for the second month running. It has now been in the #1 spot for a total of 39 days. However, with the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2 today, it's likely that we will see a new #1 this week.

The Michael Jackson biopic... Michael was a distant second and Guy Ritchie's In the Grey in third.

The most popular movie bundle was Toy Story 1-4 Collection. We can expect Toy Story 5 to become available after it's theatrical run ends.

The best performing animated movie was The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
