The series seems to be setting up the following

1) Discovery going into the future with next seasons cast

2) Pike getting crippled

I expect next season to be all about getting home and thus setting off the red signs.

Pike getting crippled doesn't happen till much "later" - he has to go back to Talos IV in "the Cage" before he is injured... also we know Anson Mount is leaving at the end of this season, so he wont be travelling with Discovery wherever it goes...

Pike shouldn't get crippled, remember in TOS he was Kirk's mentor and it was after that he became crippled.

Fair enough. Pike sounds is going to be OK then. Not quite enough of a fan to the entire lore down pat it seems :)

That explained well why they (Discovery, Michael and others) were never mentioned in any Star Trek after that event - not even by Spock in TOS.

Ive just started S2. I went read all this, until I have caught up. But Pike is still in it? Watched the first ep with him, over acting. I find the acting so so at times with STD but thats ok, I enjoy it. Pike though seems way over the top in terms of dry humour etc. Ill catch up in a couple of nights.

Why does NF show my last ep was S1 Ep3? I watched the first 7 , yet it still shows ep3, even though I'm up ti S2 Ep2 now

I was a little worried after the first episode with him in it, even though I really like Anson Mount as an actor. But he really grew on me through the season.

We've mentioned before in here about the stiff characters and over acting in Series 1 but Series 2 did make amends somewhat I feel there. Anson Mount as Pike was great.

Be nice if the next series continued from this Enterprise timeline with the adventures of Pike and Spock rather than Burnham and co

Season 3 has been confirmed, and basically the "wherever it ends up" is a plot device so they can start with a clean slate rather than have to "dance between the raindrops" of canon....

Although... Spoiler alert..

We know time travel time is common in/was the 3000s ( ST:ENT) but I suspect they will want a reasonably empty Galaxy for Discovery to roam around in... so perhaps they will arrive after some sort of apocalypse ( imagine a Roman era Galley turning up in the present day,- it is so out of date it would quiet easily be run over and sunk by a large container ship)

Think there will be a little bit of canon in Season 3, Star Trek Voyager had a couple of episodes involving a timeship from the 29th Century: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Future%27s_End

The technology is there for Starfleet ships to travel through time so potentially we could see travel around the whole galaxy and time?

Im almost finished S2, Pike is good, the first ep he was silly, so my post was premature. But S2 has shown Burnham to be to easy going at times, and over acting her facial looks, but MUCH more so Tilley is getting way too silly. There is a big difference between quirky and ridiculous. I think I have 2 or 3 eps, then a few short clips to go

Enjoyed this, especially as was able to binge on it over a few nights. I do wish they would fix the fighting, its beyond unrealistic.
