While the platform is beta, the event is not and that is all we care about really right?  I'm wondering, the next event is pretty soon after (2 weeks should be), what happens if android isn't supported then?  Will it again come on Duke?  Will those with Android devices, stuck trying to cast to the TV from a laptop again?  For a 'tech' company looking to upset Sky, this is not the way to do it and I suspect it will leave a poor taste in peoples mouths.  The platform was stated as being ready for the 1st event and we're already behind on the WRC, and now F1?  I guess unlike TDGeek, I'm not optimistic about the tech delivery having seen the customer experiences caused by the other platform releases.

And behind on the hockey.  Another 4 games shown on Duke over the weekend.  Still none in "beta" on Spark Sport.

I just find it ironic that they're heroing the S10 while all this is going on.

Those harping on about no Android app available upfront. Could you not still watch it on and Android device through a browser, and perhaps cast from there?

You can although I personally don't have the app installed or a login, hate the platform and haven't had a desire to sign up yet; the question still remains about subsequent races for F1; will they be in TVNZ or SS only? Also have a question posted on twitter about whether the practices are only being shown live or if they'll be on catchup too while on the TVNZ platform.

Ok, fair enough, its clear they should not be releasing beta access, and just advise it will be later, F1 is on TVNZ, leaving no issues for F1 fans

Benoire: Will those with Android devices, stuck trying to cast to the TV from a laptop again?

Android devices are more than capable of running web browsers so you *can* use them. It's a bit of a work around and casting from an Android phone or tablet is not an ideal world solution but it'll work. You don't have to use a laptop.

All the hand-wringing posts I'm seeing are similar to other threads regarding other streaming services launching and the initial lack of compatible devices. Those services have improved their offerings, Spark Sport will too.

Agree, although it should be ready by now given their press release.. That clearly shows they have had issues that they haven't overcome.

What do you want? Its missed the target, it seems an email advising that would maybe have sufficed. F1 on TVNZ so that is sorted, and wait for the full and final version. Sorted

Edit, replying to Senecio to avoid a linger post

Yes and it bugs me a lot.  Lets get the content and then do a 1/2 arsed job of getting it out the door for people to use and gradually add support later... Oh but android, sorry cant have you on all devices, selected partners only... Its frustrating and why Sky etc. still have a market space as they're generally not partnering up with Samsung or Sony for example.

My concern has always been whether SS would do a good job and these issues do nothing to help those fears as so far the evidence has been pointing that way.  As I said I know that we will be guinea pigs but I thought that might relate to the actual content itself and the performance of the encoding, not the actual access to the platform.

Have they stated that the other races will be on TVNZ yet?

I assume the idea to have SS and the start of 2019 sport season didn't match. Clearly unavoidable, and they couldn't flag SS till Jan 2020. Some here post that Android is not supported, it is. Its not ready yet for some reason. All I can see is that the desire was to get it out, its behind, but lets get it out anyway so they can have a looksee in a limited form.

Ill be watching F1 so I'm happy

Some of us here are more understanding but I hear what you say. Its not ready. Thats means its not ready for the public to pay for and enjoy is how I see it, and that its being worked on. It would be a fear if it was released, money taken, when its not ready. If they came up with this idea last July it would be ready

I take it that its simply late, as its not quite ready yet. If it was not ready by next race you would have to assume it will be on TVNZ. If the only issue is F1, there seems to be no issue as I see it.
