GODZILLA (2014) has now been upgraded to Dolby Vision, but no Atmos yet

GATTACA (1998) upgraded to Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos

In a previous post, I stated the SPEED (1994) 4K UHD release would have Dolby Atmos audio. Apparently that is not the case. The disc will have HDR10/DTS-HD MA 5.1, so we can expect Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio on the iTunes upgrade. We may also get Dolby Vision, but can't confirm.

I have now got dates (subject to change) of all of the upcoming USA 4K HDR disc upgrades. Most, if not all, will also be upgraded in the iTunes store. If there is a title that you want, keep an eye on the iTunes store for possible price reductions, then hope for a 4K HDR upgrade.

Anyone who has recently purchased, or are thinking of purchasing an Apple TV 4K, but waiting for the new hardware release (which still isn't confirmed by Apple); I found a You Tube video of Apple TV 4K tips and tricks, that outlines some of the things that you can do with your device. It is also beneficial for long time owners.

Another tip, which I may have covered earlier in this thread, but will be a revelation for those of you who hate the black bars at the top and bottom of widescreen movies, and will make any widescreen movie fill your screen.

Before you do this, I must tell you that some of the movies width will be cropped, and probably downgrade the quality slightly (I haven't noticed any degradation).

From the article that I read, it will only work on iTunes Movies (tested) and the Amazon Prime app (not tested), and possibly Apple TV+ (not tested). It doesn't work on the Netflix app (tested). Netflix say that the function works on the iOS app, but not yet tvOS, so maybe we will get an upgrade in the future.

Right, lets get down to it. Basically, if you’re watching letterboxed content, you can toggle back and forth between letterbox mode and full-screen mode with a light double tap on the Siri remote’s glass touch sensitive area. This is is not a press-click, but a light, quick, double tap.

I don't have an XBox One S myself, but, it seems from reading various threads on the subject, that the app is faulty. Apple say that its a Microsoft problem, and that Microsoft are the culprits. Hopefully, the app will be updated soon.

Thanks. I chatted with a "senior advisor" at Apple this morning, who asked for screenshots of titles advertised for purchase within the Xbox app as having Dolby Vision, and was going to escalate it. I told the person it was misleading.

My new Panasonic TV shows "Dolby Vision" in text on screen, which is how I know Disney+ works and Apple TV doesn't.

But now I don't even trust that I'm getting Dolby Atmos even! There's no way to tell on the Xbox as it outputs Dolby MAT (i.e. Dolby Atmos metadata in LPCM) 24/7 regardless of the content. It upcoverts non-Atmos content as well, and now that cannot be disabled. Previously you could disable it and then listen to see if your height speakers were active. So now I don't trust that I'm getting what I'm paying Apple for.

I am running apple tv on Xbox Series X 4k playback perfect, been watching lord rings trilogy 4k,amazing detail. For dolby atmos have you brought the dolby xbox app to enable it.
