Fear it will be a new channel which we will have to pay sky extra, just like the rugby channel because of they have previously posted there isnt much of a business case for it so if you want it you can pay for it.

As a supporter of one of the minor teams and used PLP without issues, I fear we will just see the big names and will probably pay extra for it.

Not sure if there is enough content for Sky to run it as a separate channel.  More likely that BeIn Sports launches a sports channel (a la ESPN) with all its rights (including EPL).  And likely have a streaming option too.   Check out BeInsports.com.au

Lostja: Thanks, I'll have a look and see what's up

Same for me this Morning. Tried all 3 browsers and website all messed up except when I went to sign in page, format fine, but then went back to crazy format.

when trying to watch a game said Flash was missing. I sent screen shots to PLP twitter but the usual have you installed Flash support response.

Will have to use Ipad app, but want to watch tomorrows game on Big screen.

If sky do get the rights, they best offer a similar subscription service !

Do you have an ad blocker installed? I remember having to disable mine on PLP after having similar issues.

I can't see how BEIN sports as a separate channel can work here and I also can't really see how it would work as a extra charge channel on SKY. The channel in Australia is only in SD. Also the fan base for the other football on their channel would be so small.

I think that BEIN would be better to get guaranteed money than to hope they get subscriptions.

You dont think the strategy works in Australia?  Add EPL to their Australian content lineup and it would be a strong looking channel.  It'd sorta be like Rialto is on Sky.  You dont have to take Movies to take Rialto - similarly it could be offered such that you could take BeIn Sports but not the Sports package.  Add to that the online streaming a la PLP - which has a dedicated base already that would possibly switch.

BeIn are well known to take the long game.  Canada is a prime example.  An online offering for a long period of time before it could break into the broadcast tiers.  Why not a long game in Australia and NZ?

But don't they have a problem in that the cornerstone of their plans for the channel was to be the EPL and they don't have that in Australia.

And yet they already have an offering in Australia with online only (AUD169/year) and Foxtel+online (AUD199/year).

Same.  Not happy.  Avoided any exposure to this morning's scores today, hoping for several hours tonight enjoying the football pretending it was live.  Don't think it is on to pay $200 to subscribe to this 'service' and have no games available in full less than twelve hours later.

So, I watched the highlights - not the same, but at least I avoided 90 minutes of annoyance waiting for my club to win, which they didn't.

Also, my feed through Firefox has died, so am currently watching through IE.  I've tried updating Flash, makes no difference.

Not happy at all.  Fingers crossed these con-men lose the rights.

They have already lost the rights. I also avoided scores yesterday to watch the Arsenal game last night after work. noticed on the front page it was showing the next games where it would usually show the latest games to watch. Just had to go to the schedule page though and they were all there.

According to the NBR:

EPL options narrow: Sky, beIN or nothing

Thu 28 Apr

Lightbox throws in the towel with English soccer; more clarity around that $10m price tag. With special feature audio.

Is that BeIN via Sky or direct via their website and or app. Which would be great as they have CL and Europa cup and other leagues too. Much better than just Priemier League on PLP or being dictated to by SKY.

Don't have NBR access can you post it here what was said

I think you can sign up for a free trial, but basically it says there won't be PLP next season, and that Sky don't want to pay too much for them so Bien might just sit on the rights and not do anything.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sky launches a dedicated Premium Football channel, either Skysport Football or BeIn Sports.

I hope I am wrong though and the Premier league is just added as part of the Skysport package.

I aim to misbehave.
