SaltyNZ:
davidcole: I use a oneSmart card to fund my US iTunes account - from there my netflix subscription is taken from itunes (I did the same with hulu when I was a member)- means my credit card is only in one place...and if the onesmart ever stops working I can switch to gift cards.

I didn't know you could pay for Netflix from iTunes... I use my oneSmart card directly with Netflix.

I'm able to use my normal NZ credit card (BNZ Visa) to pay for my Netflix subscription. But I do use my OneSmart card for US iTunes purchases.

sdav: Thank you for your replies.

I guess what I'm asking is if you have Netflix do you see extra value in having US iTunes? I believe all TV shows on iTunes you have to buy rather than subscribe?

IME, Netflix excels for TV show content, but isn't so great for movies. As we use an Apple TV to watch NetFlix, and this requires being logged into a US iTunes account, we use the US iTunes store to rent movies. This has the added benefit of having greater & often earlier available content than the NZ counterpart.

It is possible to use the NZ iTunes store and NetFlix on the Apple TV, but its a bit more convoluted as you have to switch between iTunes accounts. And switching back from the NZ account to the US one is slightly more laborious, as you have to set your region to US first before doing so (although the reverse is not necessary when switching from the US account to the NZ one).

I'm using ATV3, set up an American iTunes account and did the free 7 day trial through unblockus to access Netflix etc. Now that my free trial period has expired my question is:

- is this the most cost effective option, that is unblockus or are there better sites/ways to unblock?

Thanks for your replies.

UnoTelly does the same thing. I use them and have experienced A1 customer service.

Another vote for UnoTelly. I don't know how they compare to unblockus, but they work very well in their own right. Also, if you mention them in social media, you can get an extra 30 days free. They also offer rate discounts if you purchase their service for longer up front. FI we've paid for 12 months of service, as it worked out to be around USD$4 per month (IIRC).

Yep, I agree the UnoTelly (thanks to the advice above) is a good option and managed to get the 30 day free trial - cheers

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

I'm also a happy unotelly user.  As for Netflix/ hulu payments, I setup a US paypal account using my shipito address and my AU credit card.

Cheers, Stevo
