I signed up for this trial, so thanks to the OP as otherwise I'd have missed it!

I've wanted to try this service out for a while but hadn't gotten around to it. We're light consumers of movies etc in our house, I couldn't tell you the last time I went to the local video-store!

Nice to have a decent shot at trying it out though, five weeks should keep me well amused, even if it is just watching the likes of Inner Space and The Replacement Killers...!

friendlymonkey: I signed up to quickflix a while back when orcon was offering a free trial. It worked fine via ps3. However the content available is rather lacking. Lots of old movies. You could easily watch the entire library in a couple of months

it's not that small!

there are well over 600 movies on there.
To watch them all in 2 months you would need to be watching 10 movies a day.

and that doesn't count the 100 or so TV seasons of various british stuff they also have

That is if they are still watchable. Some movies and tv programs are so dated, that they simply aren't watchable. 10 minutes for nostalgia and amusement, but then they have to be turned off.

So much for free! I see a 1 cent charge on my credit card today after signing up yesterday. How ridiculous.

You'd think they'd have mentioned that (buried in the T&Cs maybe?)
I've got the same, didn't consider there'd be a "test charge" against my card... wonder if they refund it?

Quick, contact the commerce commission! They simple have to know about such a brazen attempt to defraud you of one whole cent!

I meant ridiculous as it probably cost them more in fees for that transaction than it was worth.  It would also have been nice to be advised upfront that a nominal charge would appear on my account for......whatever reason (test transaction someone suggested?)  Clearly I don't give a toss about the amount, just seems  a ridiculous process.

I've signed up but as I live rurally, have a pretty slow broadband speed.  Movies stop every 15 seconds or so to buffer and are not watchable.  I rang the technical help desk and they suggested pausing the movie for 15 minutes to give a good buffer but the stream stops after around 10 seconds while on pause.
Anyone else have this problem with the stream stopping while on pause?

Thanks

It would depend on the device. Some devices like Sony Bravia have very little internal memory for buffer, so no matter how long you leave it paused it won't make much if any difference.
If you watch via your web browser, then I think you can buffer the entire movie, so try that.
