Just thought I'd post this here as some may be interested. 5 weeks of free content can't hurt. The usual free trial period is 2 weeks

Does Quicklifx allow airplay mirroring, so I can actually see this on the telly, or do I need to sit in front of my Mac/iPad/iPhone to see the content?

Sorry guys, I don't know the answers to those questions. I'm sure you could email their support team and get them answered quickly though.

I signed up as well, the Playstation 3 app is buggy as hell and painful to use. The content selection is pretty limited too. I haven't actually watched anything yet

I think hd is only available on Sony Bravia TVs and blu rays. Not ps3 sadly.

I didn't think pic quality was too bad, even the non hd stuff. Of course a lot of the content is very old, and older stuff is lower res anyway. I still watch the odd movie or uk tv show, they add an extra 5 or so movies per week it seems.

The problem with such free trials, is that the companies often ask for your credit card, and you can't not enter it to qualify. They expect you to probably forget that you signed up, and that you will forget to cancel it. I think such promotions should be opt in at the end of the trial period, not opt out.

True.

However I find the experience so awful I'm not going to last 5 days let alone 5 weeks !

Hp were also giving away 4 week trials as their gift if you registered a new device. Hardly worth it though in my opinion due to the poor content, and the risk of forgetting about it and then getting charged, or having difficulty closing the account. If they had better content, I may have considered it.

I must have missed the deal as following the link just gets me back to the 21 days free. I thought "why not" and signed up....now I know why not! I think the corner dairy has more VHS tapes than this service has movies. The youngest did however find some cartoons that she wanted to watch so will probably just keep it for the holidays and then pull the plug. Shame really.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Yup, as above I'd accessing this through the PS3 link, so if that's buggy and doesn't have HD then I'll pass thanks. (Though thanks to the OP for bringing this to our attention).

I'd be interested in the psychology of all this really. As in I'm personally prepared to watch sport on a computer, but movies are supposed to draw you in, let you suspend reality in favour of the movie world etc. To achieve that immersion I want/need a big screen, a dark room and quality video and audio.

Soo... a movie streaming company is likely to require some app on smart TV's, and a PS3/Xbox/Freeview Box type device, to be really successful? Plus the obvious good content selection, HD steaming really and non metered deals with a good range of ISP's for free delivery etc.

I had Quickflix for about 6 months, cancelled because I never used it.  Now use Netflix, It's great and use it almost every day.

I signed up to quickflix a while back when orcon was offering a free trial. It worked fine via ps3. However the content available is rather lacking. Lots of old movies. You could easily watch the entire library in a couple of months

it's not that small!

there are well over 600 movies on there.
To watch them all in 2 months you would need to be watching 10 movies a day.

and that doesn't count the 100 or so TV seasons of various british stuff they also have
