Doubt it.  TVNZ wouldn't go out of their way to break the site for people using different brands of devices if that were the case.  The most likely scenario is that Samsung, as is their modus-operandi, entered into a "strategic partnership" with TVNZ to make their app and content Samsung-exclusive just like with Sky TV and TV3, and now Westpac.  Frankly, I don't know why anti-competition authorities aren't looking at Samsung yet as their behaviour is blatantly illegal.

Agreed; this seems the most likely scenario and I will follow up.
Not only is it illegal, but TVNZ who is being funded by tax payer, if they have entered into such an agreement, need an extreme corrective discipline.

TVNZ has not had TAX payer funding for main channels for a long time and TVNZ 7 was just for 2 year to have channels on freeview - in fact TVNZ have been paying the government - each year they have to pay 10% dividend on the government investment even if they not made any money for the year - why do you think TVNZ is cutting back staff, not making shows, and running reality tv show from the USA - this make a lot more money then doing stuff them self.

I had been watching tvnz on demand with my galaxy tab 2 but, alas, theyve updated the app & it no longer works on my device plus I cant seem to download the update as my version isnt supported. Is there a way around this?

Would rooting my tablet help?

1.  Not sure why you think it is illegal? I don't think it is. No different in principal to (say) TiVo deciding that Telecom's shops would be the only retailer that carried their product. However, if you think there is a prima facie case of illegality then you should lay out your argument to the Commerce Commission.

2.  TVNZ isn't funded by the taxpayer, and hasn't been for over 20 years.

Here is how its not working on Samsung Galaxy Note 3 as at June 2015:
Trying to use stock browser even when with registered user wont bring up login page.

Last time I tried to use the Samsung App that didnt work either.

As per original title

BOTCH-UP!

Try to contact TVNZ and they are not in the slightest bit interested.

Kyanar: Yup.  On the PS3 it just linked to http://tvnz.co.nz/ondemand/xl which was a Flash applet.  Worked on your computer too, if you mapped the PS3 buttons to the equivalent keyboard ones.  Better UI in my opinion than the regular ondemand and higher quality streams.

Yeah I don't know why they didn't make this just a keyboard enabled page for all, rather than forcing it to be PS3 centric.

Would have been great for media centers given there was no easy way of running kodi with an add on for access via a remote.
