myfullflavour: I missed this thread first time round (maybe because the name is similar to a certain free to air sport website of the not-quite-legal nature).

Definitely bookmarking for when Netflix NZ launches next month.

Yeah I wasnt aware till after.. maybe a domain name change at some point

blakamin: Wow, can you do an Aussie version???

lol, this is my playground site and I cant see any personal benefit the AUS sites seem to have the same content as NZ

NonprayingMantis: so can you tell us exactly how much content each service has?

Roughly (counting a series as 1 no matter how many seasons/episodes)

lightbox    316
neontv    683
quickflix    135
quickflix-ppv    89
sky    729
sky-ppv    434
tv3    49
tvnz    347

That puts neontv on top but having movie titles probably helps.  A better count might be the count of top 250 titles (via imdb) aka stuff worth watching

lightbox    58
neontv    44
quickflix    5
sky    16
sky-ppv    12
tv3    5
tvnz    12

Stats always lie

Yeah, having movies definitely screws that up.
Very few movies longer than 3 hours, but virtually every single 'title' in lightbox will be over that, and many will be waaaaay over it e.g. 24 has I think 9 seasons with 20 hours in each one, that means around 180 hours of content under one 'title', breaking bad is around 60ish hours, etc.

IMDB ratings is interesting. Hadn't considered that.

How about hours of content? How easy is that to measure?

I'm not grabbing per episode metadata at the moment so I haven’t got running times

Great idea.

I know it might be difficult. But it would be good to add Xbox Video, there's a number of movies and tv shows available.

You are counting each movie or tv show as 1 single title, regardless of how many episodes, right?

But counting the number of movies on Quickflix,  there is 198 movies alone on their subscription service, well above your number of 135. And that doesn't even count the TV shows they have.

Your site looks great.

The Roku search is similar but it shows you if the program you're looking for is available from multiple sources, e.g. Hulu and Netflix

It would be great if you could do that at some point as it is useful when the program you want is on a number of sites but you only have a subscription to some of them.

I'll add some notifications so I can see failures quicker...

The traffic to the site has grown massively over the weekend...

Cool. I was wondering when someone would do something like this here.

Give me a yell if you have any issues around the Lightbox catalogue.

Lightbox - we are online TV.

Aha!  I see the problem, the default settings don't include Netflix USA so I was seeing a view that didn't include it.  Once I turned this on it appeared.

You may want to change your spelling of "Argentina" in the settings page.
