Actually 8.8.0.0 and 8.8.16.16 don't even respond to DNS requests via NSLOOKUP.

ATV does not send DNS requests to these addresses at all.

Ok, I'm only going on what the getflix/unotelly helpdesk advise me to do.

So static routing is a waste of time?

If you have some clues as to what to do to get netflix back I'm all ears.

Thanks

I don't do static routing. I just drop the packets to those addresses.

Thanks for that info, can you please elaborate on what part of getflix wasn't working? Do you mean the whole thing i.e. unable to view netflix or hulu or anything?

For me, everything works except netflix on Apple TV.

I am trialling unoTelly at moment and have exactly the same problem, if their techs can't fix it I might try unblockus as well.

I did find a workaround and that is to play netflix on the iPad and then airplay that to the apple tv - it works but is a bit cumbersome.

Also, what ISP are you on - not Snap with a fritzbox router by any chance?

Thanks

Yes on Snap with a Fritz!box.
The Apple TV is able to navigate through Netflix but when I try and play content just get the spinning loading wheel.
Haven't tried it on other devices, or other services on the ATV.
Have setup those 8.8. blocks but hasn't helped

Netflix via Apple TV sends DNS requests to the server address configured, not to google or anywhere else. I'm running 7.0.3 and using bind9 on a Linux box to provide DNS. netflix.com and netflix.net requests are forwarded to unotelly 103.6.212.24 and 103.1.187.68 and all is working perfectly (via Spark with no static routing configured).

Thanks Ross for your detailed response however, I'm none the wiser, can you please offer some advice on a possible solution and/or explain in layman terms why it might have stopped working all of a sudden? If I have the same DNS (unotelly) setup as you it should work (it used to) but is not now.

Could it be a Snap thing?

Many thanks for helping but i'm afraid a bunch of numbers doesn't do much for me.

Thanks mate, so glad there's someone else with the same fault (although sorry you do but you know what I mean), thought I was going mad. Common denominator looks like snap/fritzbox although I think you said you got it working on ublockus so I don't know what to think now.

I've been escalated to "level 2 support" on both getflix and unotelly so I'll give them a couple of days to try and nut it out then I'll try unblockUS myself.

cheers

If you do an nslookup api-global.netflix.com what addresses are returned in response.

Probably not. I am using Unotelly on Snap and have no problems.

Hmmm, 7390 fritzbox router? If so can I trouble you for your static routing (if any) and do you have unotelly DNS setup in your apple TV?

thanks

OK, thanks but what does that mean? I can fumble my way through most technical things but router speak is not one of them. What do I do with that information (those IP numbers).
