Came back from a weekend away to find Netflix not working on ATV and iPad (works fine on iMac). I am using a fritzbox 7390 on Snap ISP and Getflix to do the trickery.

All worked well for months and up until this last weekend. Getflix support got me to setup static IPv4 routing in the router which I did but to no avail. I can get into netflix and see all titles and "my list" etc but when I click on play it will sit there for ages with spinning wheel and then pops up an error.

Just wondering if anyone else with same configuration has the same problem or if there are other steps I need to do bypass this google DNS thing (which I think is causing the problem)?

Thanks
p.s.
hulu plus and everything else appears to be working fine.

Did this stop working after the latest Apple TV update? I've been hesitant to install that, as I've read reports of Netflix slowly clamping down on DNS services by hardcoding the Google DNS in their apps for other devices.

Not sure when the latest update came out?? I did notice when I was skimming through the ATV menu to do a restart earlier that I had "automatic updates" turned on but not sure when the latest update came through?

Netflix was working fine on Thursday the 29th before we left.

We're reasonably up to date, but have been prompted within the last week or so that there's a new update available. I have two Apple TVs (Gen 2 & 3). If I'm feeling brave later, I may try updating one of them. But then again, do I really want the kids raging at me if I break access for them? :-)

Thanks for that Mauricio,
So do I add those other IP numbers into the static routing list or do I enter all that info somewhere else on the fritzbox7390?

cheers

My AppleTV updates automatically I think (It has never asked me, and new things keep appearing/changing).
Netflix was working fine for me on both ATV and FireTV yesterday.

Pretty sure my apple tv 3 is on the latest, and had no issues with netflix last night (Argentina) via unblock us.

Thanks everyone - looks like it might be a getflix issue? Waiting to hear back from them again.

Still trying to nut this out - doing my head in.

I have tried a free trial with unotelly with the same result - no netflix on ApppleTV.

Both getflix and uno seem to think it's a problem with the static IPv4 routing in the fritzbox.

Can I please ask again if anyone here is using a fritzbox 7390 with a DNS service like getflix or unotelly? I just need to compare the static routing table. I have all the numbers in correctly as per all the helpdesk advice offered by getflix and unotelly but when I ping them I can still get response from the two higher addresses (208 & 209 etc), the "8"s seem to work i.e. no ping/no response.

Surely I can't be the only one on Snap in NZ that has a problem with netflix? I mean it was working fine this time last week and I haven't changed anything?

It's all sorted - thanks to Jeric at Unotelly.

Contrary to all other advice on static routing by both getflix and unotelly (for my fritzbox anyway) I had to have the following IP's in the table:

8.8.8.8
8.8.8.4
8.8.0.0
8.8.16.16

And not the 208 and 209 IP's as in the helpdesk solutions.

All is good again in the world (well, our little corner anyway) and we can continue "The Fall".

Thanks for everyone's input

Spoke too soon, worked for a couple of hours, then broke again - no netflix on AppleTV.
Stay tuned...

Note that Netflix was up and down over the last 24 hours, as reported by US media.

ATV does not send DNS requests to these addresses at all.
