KiwiNZ: currently we are in the 0% as we have not found one that is worth subscribing to yet. Lightbox is promising but we don't want to have to subscribe the beam from one device to another to watch it, we want to be able to pick it up on our TV or Xbox One and watch .

Netflix provides more choice and viewing time than I could possibly spend near a TV and represents good value for money (for us). Combine that with a choice of Netflix regions at the touch of a button and I don't think there is anything available that can beat it. Add to that BBC iPlayer (free), ITV Player (free), 4oD (free) and you can see why we have not watched a single NZ channel in 18 months.

Oh and my android can even stream BBC and ITV live. I love digital entertainment.

Just Netflix for us, recently switched from US to Canada, liking the change, much broader range of movies and seemingly higher quality of movies too. Lots of the recent US stuff seemed to be pretty average, or worse. Can't afford more than one and can't see us running out of stuff to watch

I will be keen to see what Netflix has to offer here and device compatibility. I wish though that Lightbox would add more devices as I would like to support home grown products.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I'm assuming it will pop up as an available app on all the main brand devices - I'm expecting it on my Panasonic Freeview recorder. I've only set Unotelly DNS in specific devices (Apple TV, PS3) so will be interested what I get when I log into the NZ-based app vs the US one. Hopefully the best of both worlds.

I still download a little but I'd say I'm downloading 80% less than I used to since getting Netflix, iPlayer etc...

I still download a bit. Since I only recently got Netflix and Hulu I am finding situations where I'll watch the first season of something on Netflix, then switch to Hulu to watch the current season and discover only the last few episodes are there, and the beginning of the season is missing. Plus there's a couple of shows that just aren't on either, like Big Bang Theory.

My viewing is:

Sky TV - gone after the Cricket World Cup and to be replaced with Sportsnet World and Freeview, unless Sky halve my current price
Hulu+
Netflix USA/UK
BBC iPlayer
ITV
Channel 4
NFL Gamepass
MLB
SlingTV (maybe)
HBO Now (maybe)

On Netflix + free Lightbox atm, but will definitely subscribe to HBO when it comes out if it's possible! HBO + Netflix covers pretty much everything I would want to watch. Cheaper and better than a Sky subscription.

Mine is:

Sky TV (until end of the CWC)
Freeview
Netflix (mainly US but can change via Unotelly to whichever region we fancy)
Hulu+
Lightbox free yearly subscription
iPlayer
4oD
A couple of the free Australian channels - I think 9 and ABC?

I might consider NowTV from the UK if I find I miss Sky too much when it's gone, but I think it's unlikely.

I have lightbox...it was a free trial...I continued the subscription as I was enjoying Black Sails.

Once I finish the series, I'll likely cancel the sub.
Not enough there to really grab me.

Had Quickflix on a free sub too, but that was just awful. canned it before the trial ended.

Mine is currently Freeview and Sky, plus all my backlog of Sky recordings on my NAS.

Of these:

  • Freeview is hardly used, dire shortage of content and too many ads.
  • TVNZ and TV3 on demand will be added this weekend, after I network configure my new telly, but I suspect they won't be used much.
  • Sky is looking like it will be cancelled when GoT is over (intolerable advertising level in the programmes)

Added soon:

  • Lightbox (12mo free trial initially) will be added next week
  • I will look seriously at Netflix when it launches, provided it's clear I can use an geo-unblocker to switch to the US/UK content lineups.
  • Hulu Plus is probably on the cards as well.
