Boris50: Thanks kharris, seems so easy and I assume that is what he is doing. All fine until Netflix error! I'll tell him to make sure Unotelly definitely still good on the Mac in case IP address changed, and double check he's entering correct DNS in ATV. He's quite tech savvy so I can't understand why the problems!

Get him to try on a free trial of getflix too... just in case.

Each time he changes the netflix region he will have to restart the netflix app. i.e. exit the app and log in again.

Also, on ATV it is sometimes difficult to tell which region you are linked too.

When he eventually does get in that is.

The other way to do it is to change the DNS on his router, which is a good solution for some people.  Remembering that all traffic will be affected by that (but the lag is usually minor)

Well my workmate tried all weekend to get Unotelly/Apple TV/Netflix playing together and still no luck. To add to the frustration another workmate tried it on an almost identical setup and had it up and running perfectly in no time.

They are both on Vodafone using Mac and ATV. Only difference is the Vodafone supplied router  - very recently supplied one no problems, model 2-3 years old is the system having trouble. Could the router be an issue?

One other thing he noticed, with Unotelly DNS on his Mac, BBC site (not iBBC) crawls and takes around 15 minutes to load.

Any other ideas or advice? About the only thing he didn't try was disabling IPv6 which some suggest.

I would get him to try on a trial getflix account instead of Unotelly.  I have heard of cache clearing issues on Unotelly.

Getflix have two NZ DNS servers so you can choose.  IP's available on the site.

Well Unblock-us worked perfectly for him. Very strange as they essentially seem to work the same. I don't see why Unblock-us DNS would work when Unotelly's didn't??? Maybe there's a glitch in his Unotelly account registration or something. He's still keen on them so I said to email them which he hasn't done yet in case they can see something from their end.

Thanks for your advice kharris, much appreciated.

Oh that's good, I suspected as much.  As I say I did hear something about a cache clearing issue but have no detail so it may be worth messaging them.

I think getflix is cheaper than Unblock-us and Unotelly.  That is why I use it.  To my knowledge it provides exactly the same functionality as the other two.  I also got better video output and no buffering when I tested Getflix, compared with Unblock-us.  Getflix has servers in NZ (when I tested it Unblock-us didn't  - Sydney was the closest although that may have changed)
To add I have never has any access issues with getflix... it just works.

Oops, this is starting to sound like an advertisement for them - it's not meant to be.... just good cheap service.

Cheers
Kirk.
