DItto, I do prefer the PS4 as the interface is better but the experience is similar.

Isn't the Lightbox (and others) interface the same once you're inside the app?

yup, the interface in the app is the same, but the interface to get to the app is horrible with the ps3

Serious question. Has anyone tried the Wii-U? We use our Wii for the kids and the wii-mote makes a great media remote. Obviously only SD, but it boots much more quickly and easily into Netflix than the Xbox.

Yeah years ago I got the Harmony IR to PS3 adapter.  This just sits in the cabinet and we never use the PS3 hand controller.  I had to dig it out and charge it up the other day, as I was going to actually play a game on it for the first time in ages.

I don't like how the youtube app seems limited to 720p though, but fundamentally it all works fine, with connectivity much like the google hdmi stick thingy, Chromecast.  You can queue youtube videos via your cellphone/ipad easily, so all good there.

Only thing missing for me is access to a decent browser to view streams from non app supported sources, if you know what I mean.

I use my PS3 for Lightbox and Netflix and I really like it. I have the official sony remote I bought when I originally got it as it's always doubled as my bluray player and I don't like the dual shock for playback purposes. I find the interface as simple and easy as any device I've tried, you go sideways on the D tuntil you hit the Video icon then scroll down to the app you want, how is that not simple for those that don't seem to like it ?

I have a media PC set up that I can use as well but I find the PS3 simpler and less prone to accidentally leaving Fullscreen mode as there is no mouse to bump or move by vibration. Funnily enough I don't like gaming on the PS3 and never even opened some of the games I bought. I find PC gaming much better personally.

I also have the excellent PS3 server app I for on my media server that shows up automatically on the PS3 and lets me stream and transcode Movies from the PC to the PS3, gives the PS3 even more use.

The Wii U has HD, and the Netflix app works well, from my experience on a girlfriend's Wii U over in the US.

Yes, getting to the Lightbox app on the PS3 takes nearly a full second so perhaps I should upgrade.
