Much better tonight !

Watched 5 episodes from 7pm.

There was the initial buffering but the stream went to 1080p after a minute or so.

:)

Slingshot UFB with Global Mode, no problem at all, smooth as butter.

On ADSL with connection speed 11-12 mbs. Sometimes get 1080 but mostly 480 or less. Gave up after one hour of 240 (VHS would be better)

With Spark but changing to Slingshot on Tuesday. Have a friend in same area with similar connection speed with Slingshot and he gets more or less full time 1080.

I can steam Youtube with excellent quality at all times.

I'll be interested to hear how your ISP change works out.  I just signed up for the NZ Netflix free trial and am in the same boat as you - Spark ADSL, 12mbs download.  The stream quality I see is very inconsistent, it constantly switches between HD and SD while watching, would be good to find out if it's ISP related.  I also can stream Youtube in 1080p at all times.

Wow! What happened. Did Spark read my post yesterday! Last night I had brilliant quality all night, 1080 in less than a minute without one glitch.

That was the best I have had since Netflix NZ started.

I notice that it's still really choppy during peak times. Tried it out a bit on the weekend, morning to late afternoon with no issues, full HD while watching on 2 devices. Speedtests to LA were strong. Late afternoon to evening the speed dies, 480p at best. Last night around 9pm tried to watch something and it kept buffering even at 480p. Speedtest to LA was poor. Speedtest to NZ server was fine, 45Mbps down.

Spark seems to not be providing enough bandwidth during peak hours, it's frustrating as i'm on a fixed data plan which doesn't involve traffic management or fair use and yet my traffic seems to be managed during peak times (or there's just too many people and it's overloaded).

Am upgrading to fibre, not sure if this will help but crossing fingers.

Im getting the same issue now.. my PS3 would only peak at 720.. previously I can get 1080 in just 30 secs. but this time it would stick to 720.
Im on voda cable 100/10 and getting about 60Mbps on los angeles.

Tried different Nextflix region and they are all the same.. only peaking at 720.

Note that I am only having this issue on PS3 (connected over ethernet) and this only started to happened since Daredevil week.
My Sony TV Netflix app would peak to 1080 in just a matter of 30 secs.

So just wondering what happened on PS3 network...

I preferred PS3 as the video quality and sound quality is much better than other devices (Dolby plus).

I might try other dns service.. currently on Getflix.

can someone please confirm for those on voda cable and which DNS service you are using and getting 1080?

thanks

Guys, mine all good again and a quick 1080 after 20 seconds..
I resolved mine by deleting my Netflix app on PS3 (it was app from US) then installed the one from NZ. and all good again.
Looks like reinstalling the app was the fix regardless on what region you get the app.

dunno about network issues, but I binged the entire first season...thoroughly enjoyed the entire thing. Quality, story, fights, acting all far exceeded my expectations.

Daredevil is on NZ netflix, if stuff is available in NZ ones probably better to give that one a go.

I've only watched 1st Eposide so far, didn't have any problems.

Is the show itself any good. Do I need to know anything about the rest of the Marvel "universe" before I watch it?

Yes it's good and no not really it seems to take place sometime after the avengers movie but doesn't really reference it at all, I watched all 13 episodes and really the only critique I have is that the Russian gangsters really don't swear "sh!t" is about the worst it gets in language which is a pity really considering they're targeting adults with this
