littleheaven: Yay! Going to subscribe to their Plus service, I think. It's in beta at the moment so might be buggy, but it's a discounted rate which you keep as long as you stay subscribed, even after beta ends.

That's about $12NZD... not bad I suppose.  Can you let us know how you get on with sign up.  i.e. use of NZ CC for payment etc.

Cheers

Kirk

Will do - I'll have to have a bash at it after work.

Subscribed to the Plus service (1 week free trial). They just need your login details and a UK post code - I used a family member's post code. I provided an ASB Visa for payment which was accepted. Currently the Plus channels only work on iOS or via a browser, but they say that lots of other platforms are coming very soon. The Plus channels would not AirPlay to my ATV4 - the option was there but then I got a "trouble loading content" notice on the TV. The streams take a few seconds to settle, but once they do the quality is reasonable. The BBC breakfast show looked pretty crisp on the ATV4 app.

In the past I have used the postcodes of embassies in different countries for setting up anonymous email accounts because embassies publish their full addresses on their web sites and this is an easy source of such. Does it matter in this case what the postcode actually is as long as it is valid?

I don't think so. Possibly it might affect regional programming, but they didn't indicate that.

If the Plus channels start working on the ATV4 shortly I may keep the subscription going a while. It has Cartoon Network for my son, and some lifestyle channels I'm keen on. A bit of sport, too! It shows promise.

Interesting. I tried to subscribe and it tried to use my apple account for the subscription. The U.K. Apple account. Is this what happened for you? My existing account had payment details set to 'None' so it asked me to update the payment details. When I entered my BNZ Credit card it said 'payment details not valid for this store'. Please re-enter.

Any ideas?

Yes, that happened to me when subscribing via the TVPlayer app, so I went to their website on a normal browser and then I was able to sign up normally. I did that on an iPad with UnoTelly DNS loaded, via the normal Safari browser.

If you do want to add a payment method to your UK iTunes account then it will accept an Air NZ OneSmart MasterCard Debit.

Edited for clarification.

Ah that explains it nicely... thanks so much, I will try that tonight.

I finally managed to subscribe. There was all sorts of hastle. Mostly I think because this is in beta. However my account and subscription data are always available now.

The one issue I have left is no epg data. Do you get the same issue at the moment? It doesn't seem to matter if I am logged in or not. There is no epg data so I can't watch anything.

Hmmm. Ok. I've been playing around a bit. If I change my iPad Timezone to London then the Epg data is available and everything works but if I set it to the local Timezone I get no epg.

What is your experience?

My EPG intermittent - sometimes it is there, sometimes it's partially there, sometimes not at all. I didn't update my iPad region settings in between. Definitely quite buggy right now, but that's why it's so cheap. I am tempted to hang onto the sub for a few months to see how much it improves, because you get to keep the cheaper price if you stay subscribed.

Yeah I have to agree it's pretty buggy. Worth holding on to see how it develops though.

Have you managed to get any catchup stuff to play? It looks like it's going to play but goes to a blank screen.

Both free and plus catch-up is currently not working for me either. If they can get everything working I think it'll be a really great service. I'm exited enough about the potential to keep paying for a while.

This is the error that was occurring previously. Should be fixed now. I just checked and it works fine. See my earlier post here with instructions from Unotelly.
