Hmmm so Shortcircuit had the same problem yesterday and updating on Unotelly worked. Myself and Arano have it today and updating Unotelly didn't work. Maybe I just need to be more patient and updating might work later on.

Have also contacted Unotelly but had to leave a message - why is this always a weekend thing.

Michaelmurfy, if I try dns4me I guess I can just update addresses on this computer and other TV's and stuff will just carry on using the Unotelly stuff ?

Ok, I have just entered the UnoTelly DNS on my laptop (I only use it on my Amazon Fire TV), and it plays US content no problems. Wiidows 10, Chrome and IE11.

Also noticed that the Netflix stream is on HTTP not HTTPS

It's not UnoTelly, it's your PC.

rb99: just checked and still working (touch wood) on the smart tv to the US and the Firetv to the UK.

Also logged in to Unotelly and up popped the correct IP address, updated it anyway and thought I'd reboot the PC. Still the same.

But have you removed or bypassed the "recording" thing?

Haven't removed the 'recording' thing (which is Playon). Its not running at the moment - haven't removed it from Task Manager, Background Processes if that's what you mean by bypassing - can do, didn't think of that, but no one else with this problem has mentioned Playon (though that probably doesn't mean much)

My reasoning is that Netflix doesn't use HTTPS for streaming. Perhaps PlayOn does and perhaps PlayOn has old certificates or is using an old TLS version that Netflix is no longer supporting for security reasons. Bypass it and if works...

Playon is working fine for me here. Sometimes if Netflix regions are changed on Unotelly recording fails until the Playon server is restarted. Also, don't run Playon on a Virtual Machine. The virtual network seems to play havoc with Netflix. I have to run Playon on a standard computer. I have tried several VM configurations and they all have issues.

For starters I would restart the playon server.

There has certainly been something fishy going on since yesterday. I've been using Unotelly for a couple of years now and never experienced any issues until now.

I have 3 ATV3's 2x Mac's and Ipad + iPhone. I use Hulu all the time and no issues what soever with that. When I tried to access netflix yesterday I could only get NZ Netflix. My resolution (after countless device restarts etc.) was to change the Unotelly DNS to one of the Sydney ones. It seemed to resolve. When I put any device back to the NZ Unotelly DNS's I get only NZ content again.

Out of interest I also have a Getflix account and found that works with no issues what so ever.

I have logged a couple of tickets with Unotelly but apart form restart you device I got told it would sort itself out within 24 hours (which it hasn't).

FYI I am a Spark ADSL customer running their standard thompson router.

michaelmurfy: Interesting - might well be related or Unotelly might be having some issues.

Not having a single issue with my Netflix on dns4me - maybe sign up to their free trial just to test it? http://dns4me.net

My opinion but I do think there is something odd going on. Problems with Unotelly and Netflix (using their NZ DNS server). My Getflix works fine. Using some of Unotellys Sydney DNS servers is also fine.

If PlayOn runs as a service then you might not need to uninstall it - perhaps just stop the service and see if things work without that running?

Playon is a media server. If an item is required to be recorded it connects to the service required (such as Netflix, HBO Now) and emulates a web browser to record the item in real time.

It is just the same as having another web browser on your network connecting to Netflix. It does appear that something fishy is going on with the NZ Unotelly DNS server from what the OP and Buzz have said.

Have turned off the PlayOn server and told it not to automatically start on boot up. Rebooted and still cannot access Netflix from a browser on this PC.

Tried Smartflix, as mentioned in another thread a week or two ago, and that works on this PC, though its independent from Unotelly.

Tried our laptop, on same router of course and can get to Netflix site no problems. The laptop has no specific IP addresses set for Unotelly or anything else while this PC is set to LA and Mexico so as to use Netflix US i.e. non Dynamo server.

This PC has PlayOn, the laptop doesn't.

Don't use any kind of VM - way beyond me.

Guess it is this PC.

Should I just do what it says, and turn on TLS whatever ? would that affect the other browsers which also don't work ?

Put Sydney Unotelly DNS address into the IP settings for the network adapter on the PC and see what happens. You also need to clear your internet browser cache on the PC. I would delete all browsing history and settings and cookies for IE.

Tried running Norton, on a quick scan - Windows said it stopped working, twice, a bit off putting but Norton itself didn't complain.

Also tried changing IPs to Sydney and it worked, yay. Think I'll try a different non Dynamo server as well, and see if PlayOn will work.

Been experimenting and as far as I can see, non of the non Dynamo servers will let me access Netflix on a browser. Anyone else seen this perchance ?
