Great... let us know what you think of the ATV4.

Most consumer electronics stores have a 7 day right of return as long as the packaging is undamaged. Just take it back and tell them you bought the wrong one. Buy the ATV4 from them and they will be happy enough. It's not like you could get a discount anywhere else anyway. Btw. Get the 32MB version and save yourself $100. There is no need to buy the 64GB version.

I have only seen 1 need for the larger amount of RAM - there is an app for HDHomeRun's (called Channels) that can do live pause, and this uses the RAM as a buffer. Not sure on the exact requirements though.
There is also a DVR app in development for the ATV4, not sure how this copes with 'disk' space - https://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=125&t=32498
I guess it depends on how many apps/games you want to install on it. At the moment it seems like a lot of storage but as the functionality expands the perspective might change.

I have great faith that Apple will upgrade it's TV offering every year or two :-) Not sure I see the point in a DVR app for a device that is used primarily for streaming content on demand. I also can't see myself downloading enough games to fill up the available space even though Crossy Road is awesome. lol.
Do you know of something coming up that will warm my bones?

Er, no, sadly. Sorry :o) But I expect the range of apps to expand at a reasonable rate now the store is open to all developers, and I know how fast they can fill up my iPad or iPhone. I've no doubt that there will be updated ATVs on a regular basis, but I'd like to think I don't need to buy each new version, and that my 4 will carry me through for a few years to come, so while 64GB seems excessive now, maybe it won't be in a year from now. I do agree that a DVR app seems an unusual addition to a streaming media device. I think Apple is trending away from traditional broadcast and jumping firmly on the SVOD bandwagon.

I would just like a TVNZ on demand app, ITV app, and a Lightbox app for now.... then I would have all my current apps on one device. Although I do seem to notice that the ITV app on other iOS devices doesn't show much from ITV sport on demand.... only what has been on ITV 4 very recently.

My wish list is very similar - TVNZ On Demand, All4, Lightbox and Fanpass. Then I wouldn't have to turn on another device.
