All the capturing and DVRing I need is done by nice people who pop a torrentfile up on TPB.
haha, I see. If only there was a legal, free & very easy way to do it.
I'm afraid I also have to answer no to all questions. There just isn't enough that would appeal to me and anything that needs recording I can already do.

Handy to have a free added value option if I was out of house, out of town, tablet handy, with free wifi. It would get the odd use. Would need to be live and OD
Won't freeview+ make this unnecessary - allowing ondemand access to anything recent / current?
*I don't have or use freeview+ nor even live TV - I stream everything I need currently - so could be mistaken about what FV+ offers.

Is everything on all FV channels on FV+? Or just a selection?

I'm not certain. That was the impression i'd got, and I had a brief google before posting, yet I'm still not certain.

If this worked, I would try and get all channels that are on free to air, including Channel North & CTV etc. try and get the highest quality channel streams possible.
Thanks for your input guys, but I may never do it since its just an idea. Will prototype it sometime as a side project.
I hope you aren't looking to invest too much time or money on this. Given what you're planning is almost exactly what Aereo did, (or failed to do!) unless you have very deep pockets to obtain content rights legally, I wouldn't think there is much chance of success.
No...
I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. If you use my Quic signup you can also use the code R570394EKGIZ8 for free setup.

Yep, Basically try do what Aereo did. And only my spear time, and only wanna see if it's possible, will be hard because I live in Westport where I can only get tv via satellite (that's kinda why I want to try it, satellite is not even HD, and piss poor quality), so I'll have to set up a pc in chch or Auckland and remotely connect to it. Every Kiwi has the right to assess free to air tv, and I just want to give a way to do that, just over the internet (of course would put geo block so only can be viewed in NZ, but maybe make a way for Kiwis to view it overseas, not sure yet).

Nothing to stop you doing this for yourself. More power to you if you do. It's only trying to sell a service like this which is likely to land you in trouble.

I do not plan to sell this, no. If I were to charge for anything (If I ended up making it a service for people to use) it would be so you could record tv and have unlimited space to record.
Yeah, I'm sure you would quickly run into all kinds of copyright enforcement issues if you tried to distribute the stream, even if you did restrict it to NZ. However, there are services that do exactly this kind of thing internationally, like Filmon and Streema, so I'm not sure how that works.
