It's like free advertisement....people should realize they are getting ripped off for a product that should cost half the price and with software that are freely available.

I am happy to bet you any amount of money these "customizations" (A.K.A pirated content plugins) will break and this company will not be around in a year to support this.

Whether Joe considers the service legal or not, he could well end up being tied up in litigation for a very long time.

Does he fully realise the gravity of the situation he's potentially placing himself in? Perhaps masking the ownership details of the domain means he does have a clue.

It's pretty obvious from the fact that the owner withheld his surname he knew his business is dodgy.

Also there is no contact information on his website. All the products are shipped straight from overseas so there is no inventory. He is all set to do a runner if sh1t hits the fan.

Yes, exactly.

Who does he send to houses in Hamilton and Cambridge to assist with the installs? If it's not Joe himself, then I wonder if he's held his contractors at sufficient arm’s length so as not to provide a path back to reveal his real identity.

Perhaps the installers will help cushion the fall.

You can side load apps from your android devices to your FireTV very simply by using this app

I tried doing something like that when there was no ITV or channel4 UK app available.
I found for the most part the apps didn't seem to work very well.
Might check that particular tool out though. Pretty happy with the official apps now though.

I used it to sideload kodi, if I remember correctly that was the only sideloaded app that remained on my Fire TV. Apps designed for a touch screen interface aren't so great when controlled with a remote.

Using free or open source software does not mean a product should be cheap. I have seen all sorts of software and hardware in my time that utilised "free software" but had a five figure price tag.

Don't really see anywhere that says setup by a technician is required. It's an Android box it will most likely require two cables to setup. Wouldn't be surprised if he preloads them with backdoors for "easy access"

These plugins are highly unlikely legal (they are not geo-unblockers, they are just pirated content channels). if he runs a legit business they should not even be pre-loaded let along charge for the service.

If they are legal or not is for a court to decide i would imagine. I just said that free software does not mean a cheap product, whatever it is.

You folks remember a couple of months ago a German guy (banned) was contacting some people via PM saying he was "keen on NZ TV" so he wanted to send a Sling device so he could watch TV in Germany? Most likely he used the Sling device to suck your Sky content and stream over your Internet connection to the world, where people with boxes like this one can watch "free content".

I think this guy is trying to use the "piratebay" argument to make his business sound legit.
"All contents are user generated and we don't host them on our hardware all we are providing is access to said contents"

'Old people'.......I am 'old people', I also have a background in IT before I got too old for anyone to hire me.

Funny how loads of the 'old people' invented all this stuff but they are lumped into the "IT illiterate" category now.

I expect Wozniack is now old people, but I doubt he has much trouble with todays tech.
