maybe its my old eyes but I signed up for the trial and looking at their catalogue the content available in NZ seems very light or am I doing something wrong
toyonut:
Looks OK, but lack of chromecast support is very annoying. I guess they expect you to buy a fire TV or fire TV stick rather than supporting casting. I am not seeing anything other than the Grand tour that would make me sign up though. The rest looks pretty much like a generic movie dumping ground. Looks like netflix without the original content. What else is good on there?
If there is no Chromecast support thats a deal breaker for me. Otherwise would of given it a go.

Disappointing, but good to know and something I had feared would be the case. Also no AppleTv is a deal breaker for me. Sorry Amazon, not this time.

And I wouldn't expect it to ever come - so that people buy their fire sticks etc, Amazon won't sell chromecasts on their site (they said they didn't want people to get confused and buy the wrong device by mistake).
networkn:
Amazon has loads of original content, they were nominated as many times as Netflix and last year they won about 2 less?
I just see the same three things mentioned in this thread, Grand Tour, Mozart in the Jungle, Transparent. I didn't see anything else original. That said it may be there, I just didn't see it when I browsed prime this morning.
Try Vultr using this link and get us both some credit:
I'll stick with my US Amazon Prime account I think as NZ content will be small.
How can you change your Prime account to the US one? I have a US centred Amazon account (rather than Amazon Australia). When I signed up for the free trial this morning I presumed it would be under the US Amazon site, there was no option to choose the territory.
Life is a daring adventure or nothing at all...
On my trial I can see a whole wealth of movies and tv shows that I can watch, literally a few dozen categories all full of content.
Just signed up, downloaded the PS4 app and started watching The Grand Tour - all in less than 5 minutes. A quick browse shows some shows and movies we'll watch so if nothing else we'll enjoy it for a few months at $2.99 and than see where we go. Always nice to have another option. Using GetFlix with Prime set to the US yet signed up with NZ Amazon account and details. No issues there so far, not sure which catalog we are being presented with but will have a better look later.

Interesting - I have a US Amazon Prime membership, which I watch through a DNS unblocking service, however I thought with the worldwide launch that I might be able to watch it outside the house, at friends etc., however have just tried to watch the Grand Tour (awesome by the way) at work and it says that it isn't available in my area. I would have thought that, like Netflix, they would have made it available regardless of where you are but with restrictions on content due to licensing rights - this means that if you have paid for the service in NZ you won't be able to watch it if you travel to the UK, Aus, USA etc. - not very useful or smart.
EDIT - Well - just tried again and now it works - not sure what happened the first few times I tried it???
I am unable to locate the PS4 App does not show.

Not available in the NZ store yet, I had to load it through a US account. You need to create a free US PS account, sign in to that on your device (no dns magic or anything needed), download the app, set it to be accessible from all accounts on the device and than switch back to your normal account. There are instructions online for this if need be (can also be used for Hulu etc).

Thanks for that, will try when the trial is over, not sure I will continue with it.
Plus, The Grand Tour legitimately.
Questions, is there an Xbox One app, or PS3/4 etc?
Does any current smart TV support this Amazon TV Service?
How will people be viewing this service?

Additional question TV support at 4k? In NZ?
Of course, I will test it out myself when I get a chance.
