Did you have an ad blocker on by any chance?  I did but turned it off the first time the Fox Sport logo came up and saw all ads after that.

I did have an adblocker (uBlock Origin for Chrome). Didn't even think about disabling that to watch the ads. I just assumed since the background of the Fox Sport logo was moving that the stream was commercial free. Something to remember for next year :)

I switched back to fox (apple tv 4) at half time, then back to duke for the remainder of the game....the silence ever couple of minutes while they went to an ad break was off putting.

Why watch it on Duke when it was also on TVNZ 1 in HD? The PQ difference between TVNZ 1 and Duke was very noticeable.

I started by watching the Fox Sports (US) stream, but switched to ESPN HD (Aus/NZ) when I realised that the US adverts weren't being shown on the Fox Sports stream. Totally agreed about the silence was off putting.

I knew duke had it from when I looked at the guide, didn't know tv 1 was also showing, otherwise I would have preferred hd.

TVNZ 1 showed the whole game live, but didn't show the post match due to having to screen Te Karere at 4:30pm, Duke continued coverage until just before 5pm.

As noted in my OP I watched on a Firestick using Fox SportsNow app. This year Fox unblocked the stream in that while you had to be in the US to watch (or pretend to be in the US) you didn't have to logon to your local cable company account.

The ads were mostly the same as OTA except since the network feed occasionally breaks out to allow local affiliates to screen local ads, the "local" ads appeared to be some New York channel.

No idea what the browser experience waas like since I never tried preferring to watch on my big TV.

My account was from watching it on the big screen via Chrome browser on my HTPC :-)

While I also have my HTPC connected to the TV I must admit it never occurred to me to watch that way since I had the Firestick. Plus I don't have remote control over the PC apart from a mouse so the Amazon BT remote is much better.

Yeah fiddling with my keyboard ~3m away from my 55 inch TV is far from idea but it works.
