Maybe unlikely but I've just been reading about the Panasonic UHD Players and it would be awesome if it came to those.

....Or at least if Google or Microsoft would just rent out 4k movies here like in other countries!

The Just Watch app is now showing Shazam and a few other movies to be available in 4k for rental on Microsoft Xbox. It wasn't a few days ago and I couldn't find any movies that were. I'll confirm on my actual xbox tonight

Confirming there are now 4k uhd rentals on Xbox. Although not a whole lot.
Shazam, Aquaman, fantastic beast 2, Lego movie 2, the mule, The Meg Rampage, crazy rich Asians, Justice league, life of the party, Game night.

just to provide an update

Yesterday my LG C9 received an update which added Airplay 2.

I am currently watching Venom in 4K, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos using my iPhone to stream the movie over the wifi connection to the TV. No lag and clean crisp image, love it.

And that was a pretty decent movie.

Overall a very smooth experience - it just works, thanks Apple.
Glad I didn’t spend $300 on the Apple box, just using the Apple TV app from the iPhone for renting movies is just super easy now with AirPlay 2.

I was afraid it would just play in 1080p and no hdr because it maybe thinks I’m watching it on the phone but nope it knows it’s a TV and is able to send the full HDR 4K and Atmos image and audio.

While an old thread, this issue of the quality of Google Play Movies content has come up in a number of threads over the last couple of years...

GPM is our main source of rental movies (even if used fairly rarely), so it was a nice surprise to find when watching Tenet last weekend that not only was it in the advertised 4K but HDR.

I know 4K wasn't available for quite some time on GPM in NZ, but once available did it come hand-in-hand with HDR or is that a newer feature? This is the first time I've seen an HDR icon, so unsure if it's new or just not available on previously watched content. Also, weird how GPM doesn't even indicate whether content is in HDR.
