Linux: I am sure the OP means Amazon prime

Nope. I mean Amazon. According to what I have been told, any URL with Amazon in the name goes dead. This is just what I have been told. I haven't seen it for myself yet.

Well try going back to the ISP provided DNS servers and see if you still have problems with it.

You are having issues but using 3rd party DNS settings

So then change back to the iSP provided DNS and try again

Not that easy to do. This WISP does not allow customers to access their router settings. I had to make a special request to have the DNS servers changed. On reflection, I probably should have just done it per device but it seemed like a good idea at the time. I like the company and I don't to be bugging them with this kind of thing all the time, especially since they made an exception for me when they changed the servers. When I feel up to it, I might pursue this further with a VPN, but I have just had surgery and I tire easily.

Amazon Prime is just generally terrible. We only have it because it's free with 2degrees.

We have it on our LG TV and the app is so flaky it's ridiculous. My favourite is the 'playback error. Go to primevideo.com/videohelp' and that just sends to you the main prime home page.

Tried uninstall/reinstall, deregister/re-register. Regardless, just every now again it will stop working for a few hours. While other apps continue function normally (Plex, YouTube, Disney, etc).

No DNS mucking around. Mikrotik router. Mikrotik 24 port gigabit switch. Fibre MAX... etc etc.

I would say your issues are just par for the course with Amazon.

Edit.... hahaha oops.... you're talking about just Amazon in general. I inserted Prime myself haha. My bad. Still good to vent about it though...

Amazon.com works perfectly all the time. I would guess a caching issue of some sort.

Anecdotally I also have 2degrees Gigabit fibre and the LG TV (2017 model) Prime app works flawlessly for me at all times.

Why don't you just get the guy to change the DNS on his computer to rule out your 3rd party DNS. i.e. google 8.8.8.8 or cloudflare 1.1.1.1

Good suggestion. I just didn't think of it. He is non-technical but it wouldn't be hard to do. I will mention it to him. I do wonder why he only encounters the problem late in the evening, though.

Google is your friend for that guide. On my mac. Apple icon top left.-> System Preferences -> Network -> Active connection ( Wifi ) -> Advanced -> DNS Tab -> + sign to add DNS servers...

Also you could share a mobile connection over wifi tethering to test if issue is your network.
