nztim:BlakJak: My ISP has common infrastructure to AONet; they had an outage this date caused by an upstream issue (not their own fault) which took several hours to resolve. Kinda highlights the need to talk to your own ISP if you have an outage!
Looks like they peer upstream with Datacentre220 & Vocus
if one went down I would assume it would have taken an alternate path
As always, it's never this simple ;-)
However I can tell you that networks accessed via peering arrangements were fine. It was stuff that wasn't available via domestic peers that were all-but unreachable in most cases.
I was able to provide traceroute information to my ISP who were able to escalate it upwards but it took most of the working day to resolve the fault. Fortunately a good amount of the content used by my family is domestic/peering-link dependent and I was actually travelling on the day concerned so it didn't impact me directly.
