I used to be with Spotify, then moved to Apple Music, because it was free though my phone provider in the UK. I didn't rate it at first, but have grown to like it, and it's got better with newer releases with iOS.

When I moved my Apple account from UK to NZ, it lost all my playlists. I had to export to CSV and import via freeyourmusic app. It does an OK job but doesn't always pick the exact version of a song you may have.

It integrates nice with Sir and CarPlay so I've stuck with it. High Res audio coming this month too, if that's your kind of thing.

I think I'll explore YouTube music. Just read that it has taken over Google music. But does it have all the Google music catalog, probably not

You don't give a use case for the streaming app (where, how, what), so here is something not mentioned before:

One subscription for all 6 sites / apps. NZ $11 per month, Even the free version had minimal adds & was practically advertising only itself (when I was using it). Select a channel / genre / style & press play. Enjoy endless hours of music. No fiddly searches for artist / band / album. No reaching the end of a playlist & having to go search for something new 🤮. No tracks in the same order, no selection of a certain band / album to find similar music. You have the option of skip, like & dislike; nothing else.

Free and ad-free hi-def/high-bitrate lossless streams can be had here:

https://radioparadise.com/home

Maybe not a massive selection but free and high. Also has apps for devices and works on Sonos.

I use apple music, it just works with all my apple devices. We have the family plan so the wife uses it as well as the kids.

Spotify has the best play lists, discovery options and device support.

I use Apple music as the Apple One Bundle is great value here.

Hammerer:

I'm certain that Spotify (on all compatible platforms) and Apple Music (on Apple systems) are respectively the two best music streaming apps. The app features and music curation are much better than YouTube Music.

Dulouz:

I use YouTube Music Premium. Mainly because it includes YouTube Premium which makes using YouTube so much better.

I use YouTube Premium (NZD 19.99 per month for 6 users) with the YouTube and YouTube Music apps because I prefer music videos and often watch them with lyrics. The main issues are that the music catalogue and app features (e.g. playlists) are more limited than Spotify.

Agreed with all of the above - youtube music is not as good as spotify, but for ~$25 a month for 6 accounts and no youtube ads - consider me sold!

We've been using it since about March (When we went into lockdown) and can't imagine life without it now.

Best Streaming App or Streaming Service?   I stream with VLC now that Winamp is dead (RIP) - supports Android & Windows.

As far as services go - anything so long as it's free & plays Progressive House! (John Digweed/Nick Warren not today's EDM crap)🕺 :)

Soundcloud/Mixcloud/Youtube/Frisky Radio/Shoutcast etc.......Digitally Imported back in the day.

All 128k min ofc
