This all sounds terribly complicated to me.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Do people still use Netflix?
I do. But rubbish like this is why piracy still exists also.

I suppose a Family plan that 4 or 5 can watch wherever they like would be too easy ?

I don't buy that.
Unless everything is free, there will be people who steal regardless.
Netflix is pocket change for what you get. Can anyone think of a better value proposition for entertainment? The last movie I took my family to cost 4 x that spend for 2 hours.

I'm still amazed at how many people are upset at the simple prospect of having to pay for their own Netflix.
"I'm going to boycott them" and "Watch them go bankrupt, hurr de hurr". YOU'RE NOT PAYING THEM. They're losing nothing!
I largely agree with you on that. I have met people who are part of a co-op where each person subs to a service with family sharing and they all get all the services while paying for one only. This is blatant theft.
However:
When I subscribed to Netflix, it was promoted as a family plan, not a dwelling plan. My elderly mother uses it at her house. I have not cancelled it because she uses it. The only thing we watched on it in the last 6 months is Wednesday.
To your point about them losing something, they will be losing me as a customer. I am happy to give 95% custody of the subscription to my mum if I can watch it occasionally (e.g. Stranger Things), I'm not going to do it if she can't use it. I can't see her subscribing if she gets blocked.
@networkn Very good point. I only share to my parents and have the premium account because I want 4K. I also have Disney+ and share that to them also. While I did see this coming, I fear it is the start of "Netflix is doing it so why can't we" for the other streaming services.
This is just really, really annoying...

But to cover them is like $4 a month? It's pocket change, literally.
As for everyone else doing it, well if people weren't trying to 'cheat' the system, and everyone bought their own account then it wouldn't really be a problem.
I am not having a go at you personally, I assume you'll understand that, but you don't get 2 hotel rooms for the price of one, just because you have extended family staying. :)
How they implement this is up for debate and how many innocents get caught in the crossfire, but those complaining about the morality of it, need to take a look in the mirror IMO

This makes zero sense. If you haven't used it for 6 months except one show, then your mother is the primary user. For $4 a month you can add or remove your household.

We've got premium so we can share across various devices in our own home. Are you saying I could add my mum and my mother in law as additional households for only $4/month AND keep my multi device access here at my house? (we use all of the devices cause playstation tv phones switch...) Or would we lose some devices here at our home? If its the former that is one sweet deal!

Yes. If works in NZ the same as how seems to be working in test countries you can add another household user for a set amount

I too would like a link explaining this. I am not aware of such an option in NZ, nor do I see it in the proposed crack down rules.
I have been trying to see when this starts but can’t see a date. Does anyone know?

It seems NF have pulled-back somewhat on the whole thing:
The previously-published ’new rules’ have been deleted from the NF website.
