You'd think you would at least be able to download the version you paid for to keep for ever.

I suppose they would be DRMed, but you could have a key which again, lasts for ever.

Still, this is why I pay more for discs (and why I am, at this moment, checking out the blurays available for The Dam Busters...).

Scary stuff indeed and the likes of the NZCC and ACCC need to come to grips on this otherwise it is just becomes a form of vapourware.

This is really all I found concerning this topic: https://www.consumerprotection.govt.nz/help-product-service/streaming-and-downloads/ and is a bit vague.

It would be nice to have a lawyers input on this.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

THE STING (1973) is now available in 4K HDR.

INDIANA JONES AND THE RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (1981) has now got Dolby Atmos audio, and is available for $4.99. This hopefully signals the start of a full 4K upgrade for all four movies.

grolschie: Anyone using the Apple TV app on Xbox One S? I'm not getting Dolby Vision. Yet, Disney+ gives me Dolby Vision. I'm on 100mb fibre, connected via Ethernet.

Edit: I'm not the only one with the issue apparently.

Ok, so confirmed by email from Apple support. The Xbox App supports neither Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos, but it's something they are working on:

I'm guessing people haven't realised that they are not actually getting Dolby Atmos even. This is because the Xbox outputs Dolby MAT (LPCM + Dolby Atmos metadata) 24/7 when bitstreaming Atmos is enabled, and now the Dolby app automatically upmixes non-Atmos content with no way to disable it. There used to be a setting to disable upmixing.

I installed the new 14.5 update on my Apple TV 4K. Siri is now finally available to Kiwis, which makes upgrading to the new ATV 4K less of a must buy for present owners of the last generation. The new remote is the only possible reason for me to upgrade, but I probably will anyway 🤣

That’s cool we finally get Siri. I really like the look of the new remote. You can buy it separately if you just want the remote. It’s $90 though.

I am going to place a pre-order for the new Apple TV 4K tomorrow, directly with Apple NZ. Free engraving included 😎.

I know that I don't really need to upgrade, but its possible that some future updates will need to use the full processing power of the new model. Plus I use my present ATV 4K for all of my apps (Netflix, You Tube etc.) so it is worth it to me.

Which leaves me with an Apple TV 4K spare.
