@cddt are you referring to the Mexico / SA match?

Looks a bit soft in my browser, but I've got a 4k screen.

Checking the streams there are quite a broad range, up-to 1080

β—‹ Video  --vid=1              (h264 416x234 25 fps 350 kbps) [default]
β—‹ Video  --vid=2              (h264 640x360 25 fps 800 kbps) [default]
β—‹ Video  --vid=3              (h264 768x432 25 fps 1200 kbps) [default]
β—‹ Video  --vid=4              (h264 1024x576 25 fps 1800 kbps) [default]
β—‹ Video  --vid=5              (h264 1280x720 25 fps 2400 kbps) [default]
● Video  --vid=6              (h264 1920x1080 25 fps 4000 kbps) [default]
β—‹ Audio  --aid=1  --alang=en  (aac 2ch 48000 Hz 96 kbps) [default]
● Audio  --aid=2  --alang=en  (aac 2ch 48000 Hz 128 kbps) [default]

If I select "Low quality" it looks a bit blocky rather than soft. Do you have the video quality selector in your browser?

The replays are all 25fps which is a stuttery mess. But thankfully the live matches have all been very good quality on an Apple TV 4K and 50fps.

Google Streamer - watching replay of NZ / Iran game. Choose "high quality" - playback seems fine (smooth) and picture quality is OK

You’re right. Full match replays are high quality 50fps. It’s the highlights packages that are 25fps. My mistake.

Hi all, we’ve had to give up on the TVNZ+ app since the update. It now complains about cable and HDCP problems whenever we try to play content. We have it in Apple TV 4K v2, going to an HDMI switch and then to our TV. The switch and TV are older HD only, but have worked fine up til now with many apps and other sources.

Are the HDCP problems known? Would a newer HDMi switch perhaps help?

I have a theory about the [still] broken Continue Watching. It seems that if you stop an episode or show part way through, it remembers the stop point and adds the show to Continue Watching. However, if you watch an episode through to the closing credits, it ignores it.

The effect is if you watch an entire episode of a new show, it doesn't add it to Continue Watching and you have to try and remember what it was you previously started.

Anyone else able to confirm if this pattern is correct?

EDIT: As an example, I had one show that I stopped part way through an episode, and it remembered that place in that particular episode, but then watching subsequent episodes through to the credits, it would always only remember the part way stop point in that old episode. I've now gone back and stopped part way through a different episode (having watched almost an entire season) and it only now updates the Continue Watching.

I have started getting the same issues on my Apple TV (plugged straight into the tv), it has only started in the last few days.

The app version hasn't changed since 5 June, so perhaps it is being enforced on a per program basis, and you have a flaky cable?

Possible, but unlikely given it is the only app that doesn't work, and there is at least two of us with the same issue.

I'm told the TVNZ app is still working just fine on our Samsung TV.  That's second-hand info, as I don't use it myself.  Perhaps it hasn't been updated yet.

I tried a different (newer) cable and it made no difference in my case.

I guess it's perhaps inevitable, if TVNZ has upgraded to the newest shiny tech for hosting the football, that older equipment may drop off the compatibility list especially when it comes to HDCP. But with all these things it's hard to tell where the breakdown is.

@openmedia this took me almost the whole competition to realise the pattern. Live matches are played with better quality than the replay. Now I will go and check which stream is being used for the replays...

Using TVNZ app on apple TV 4k. When we go back to the app the following day and click on a show there is no play option just "other shows you may like". We have to restart the whole apple tv and the TVNZ app then works. My partner is getting fed up with this. Is there a way to restart the app and not the whole apple TV puck?

Double click the home button when in the app and swipe up.
