I am getting a better experience on my Shield TV than my Android TV. I am not sure if it's a red herring or related to system load (spark end) or some other factor. Basically all the same issues, but less frequently.

I'll try the Android TV tomorrow.

I'd say the F1 stuff works better than the other sports so far.

What is the expected sound output when Casting?

related to system load (spark end).

Just to be clear, because of how the video stream is surfaced, system load (Bandwidth) is 100% on your providers side.

in saying that, i think i have managed to replicate a race condition that does cause the quality to seesaw. it stabilizes within a min on my spark connection.. takes longer on VF thus it's a heck of alot more noticable. (I'm not 100% sure why this difference shows itself as it doesn't seem bandwidth related, could be latency i suppose..)

I'll go see the team about that one tomorrow..

I’m seeing Dolby digital plus in 5.1 on my receiver watching F1 replays and WRC. The linear NBATV was two channels. Haven’t tested anything else yet. This was through a chromecast

You probably already realise this, but IIRC Talkiet gave a list of bitrates, noting that the streams will vary. I mentioned early the womens hickey, you can imagine the truck roll gear being "slightly" less then what Liberty Media rolls out for F1! :-)

Although it really depends on the stream.  Watched a few hockey ones that were jerky to the point of unwatchable.  But the Womens NZL v CHN one is fine.  Possibly a lower refresh rate but definitely smooth compared to others.  Could be its later in the evening and pipes are less clogged.

Can you provide an example? all the ones i try are smooth (aside from the camera motion..)

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Mens NZL v NED.  That one is bad.

Edit: I'm on 2degrees VDSL (patiently waiting for Fibre!).  Its not getting throttled though and the Wifi streaming is over 5GHz.  As I have said; some streams are great (most in fact) just a few like this that are painful :(

as noted before, you can see the selected bitrate in the browser console

Sooo.... I was getting jerkiness in the app (phone) and casting from there.  Trying the browser and its ok.  Reporting the 6k stream BTW:

Yeah it changed, but was at the 6k one at the end for a number of minutes.

Seems to be device + stream related in that case. I can post picks from the Fritzbox for the internet + wifi traffic but believe me they're ok too.

Sorry I think I missed that in the slew of posts regarding the service. I haven't had much of a chance to watch anything else yet (catching up on F1 2018's season ender before the weekend, and needing to be an adult and get some sleep before work!) - will read back and have a lookie, but so far regardless of codec used for each stream I'm loving it even if there are still a few little glitches and niggles - mainly because the chromecast is plugged in behind a socking great big AV receiver!

And yeah I wouldn't be expecting the hockey to have effectively a broadcast team the size of a small city with them!
