Someone said Sony's are underpowered, I guess that's possible. Your provider needs to be setup with Akamai as you get the feed from Akamai not Spark, so just worth noting who your provider is (ISP or RSP) so that can be checked in case it is an issue

The feed is sweet on laptop and android phone.

No worries... i'll sort it.

I have a mini pc running 24/7, I can move it and hook up to the TV with a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Easy! Always a way...

How does on demand viewing work?

For example, I won't be able to see the 6PM F1 Practice today live, but how long will I have to wait until it is available for viewing on demand? The only thing I can find on the Spark Sport website says something about "we'll get it up as quickly as possible".

Spark Sport people - how long do you anticipate for on demand content to be available from the conclusion of the live event? 1 hour? 3 hours? 24 hours?

That's one of the downsides of streaming sports, no ability to record and view whenever you like. At least that's what I gather...

Talkiet:

Not a downside here.... You can tune in to watch the live events at any point after the event has started... Even 1, 2, 30, 60 minutes, after, of 5 hours after....

The VOD content should be created immediately. I say should because that's what I experienced in the internal beta - I presume that's carrying over.

Cheers - N

OK awesome, I was obviously confused about that but that sounds perfect.

Thanks so much to you and the other Spark Sport peeps for answering questions, really appreciate it.

Will Chromecast work from my PC?

Could someone please point me in the direction of a Chromecast "How to"?

it's a google product, so fully covered by them

But as outlined here it will not be the best experience. Direct video out from a PC would be better if no other alternate app casting.

Also cover @zippity (since I saw your question in the F1 thread), that once the video has started on the chromecast, the mobile is not then necessary unless you want to change something with it.  Ie if your phone goes flat, the chromecast should continue.

@Zippity will have a phone even if he has no tablet. He mentioned flat battery, casting won't flatten the battery as the CC is playing the video not the phone, the phone just starts it, pauses it, stops it

Just signed up to get it ready for the F1 practice and have the app installed on my Android 9 phone.  I personally think you need more sub-categories below the main ones to make it easier to find stuff otherwise after a few months the whole thing will be cluttered with videos that maybe jumbled up... Haven't tried a stream yet but will do.

Can you also add the ability for us to tag favorites so that we can get notifications when things are going to start?  I'm not always glued to my phone/TV and having reminders would be good; appreciate its on-demand so not quite as important as linear TV but its always good to know that its starting and the stream is available.

Originally I think Spark suggested RWC may be added to Lightbox. Does anyone know if this may still happen, or is that idea superseded by the sports app? I have a few older customers who would do well if this becomes part of Lightbox.

"Spark Sport will be live later this week, but we appreciate this won’t give you much time to get set up. So, in addition to being able to watch all of the races on Spark Sport you’ll also be able to watch the practice sessions live on TVNZ OnDemand"

Having not used TVNZ Ondemand before - and incase Spark Sport streaming isnt quite there yet in way of performance - how will it work on TVNZ Ondemand? Will there be a pop up channel or something? Can't see anything there currently (via web browser / android app / smart tv app)?

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere.

EDIT: Found it under Sports category. Yay!

Yep - you can watch on TVNZ Duke channel, either/both live and on demand.  That's my approach this weekend, will be waiting to see how Spark goes before signing up for one month free (i.e. delay that as long as possible).
