robfish: I have just done a factory reset, signed into my Nexus Player with my NZ Google account and installed NetFlix from the Play Store

I still get the -100 error

Installed NetFlix on my Nexus 6, and that works fine too although casting it to the Nexus Player does not work. (Other apps cast fine.)

Have you tried a free trial with another DNS service just to see if it makes any difference? Dns4me works fine for me.

Ive setup a DNS redirection on my router for anything that tries to request an outside DNS server but nothing on the nexus player does this.

Well I think I have had some success.
I still have some time on my Unotelly account so I entered their DNS addresses into my LAN settings on my Orcon Modem, rebooted the Nexus Player and it worked.
Now I have changed my LAN DNS settings back to the modem/gateway address, 10.1.1.1 and rebooted both the modem and the Nexus Player and all still works.
Weird.
Thanks for the advice.

I'm considering buying one of these but wanted to check if the NBA app works ok with an international account (it doesn't work on the roku) would anyone be able to try this out for me if I provided my account details?

I'm currently looking at getting a Nexus Player through Best Buy/Youshop as they on special for US$50.

Those that already have them, would you still recommend them or is there something better out there for a similar price?

Yes, it has come aa long way since release. The 8G storage is limiting for large titles but it has played anything I've tried. Get a controller if you want to play games.

recommend the nexus player, now with Android 6.0. They can replace a computer with a bluetooth keyboard added, but the remote works well too. It is quick, super quick in fact and really snappy. In my opinion it is ahead of it's time. Live TV from overseas has never been better. You can also disable google play movies and other junk. Get one, they're well worth it. Ive got 2 chromecasts but this is better.

Lightbox supports chromecast so yes it will work.

But not sure about the lightbox android app, and if that will work.

kodi opens up the whole world. Get 1channel installed and you have EVERYTHING on demand on the nexus, only gripe is the remote sometimes disconnects and voice control doesnt work yet. Maybe its because of the DNS...

$39.99 on Groupon.com https://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-google-nexus-media-streaming-player-by-asus-1

Has anyone successfully ordered from Groupon in the USA?  It won't accept my Kiwibank CC.
