Several friends and family have tried watch on separate occasions all have given up on it and are pleased they didnt waste valueable life minutes and watch all of it. They say it is an absolutely terrible movie.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Launching my inner conspiracy theorist...I wonder if the 'threats' et al around this movie were all designed to raise the profile, increase the hype, and make a bit more money out of a movie that otherwise was soooo terrible they would have lost s fortune on normal release? Just saying...

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

What if North Korea worked with Sony to create the buzz and make this movie a hit (no pun intended)?

North Korea needs money, Sony pays something to them (in ICBMs, nuclear development technology), the movie gets distributed via online channels and that's it.

It seems the movie made $1 million on day one of release online.

Instant profit for everyone (although to be fair I think it cost a lot more than that to make a movie based on a crappy premise).

I have no wish to see it. All this publicity about North Korea supposedly hacking poor little Sony doesn't make me wanna rush out and see this flick.

I like it, it's even a step up from my theory...

The plot is not much different from the latest Jack Ryan novel, replacing rare earth minerals with movies, replacing Chinese company with Japanese company but keeping the North Koreans as the villains.
