Jester67: Very impressed with Dynamo. Very configurable. DNS issue has gone away with a refresh, DNS settings in place on router. Set for UK in Dynamo at the moment so can get iPlayer and Suits ... Happy Days

Not sure how it is with Unotelly, but with Getflix there's no specific country selection required for iPlayer, ie it works all the time, no matter what any other region setting is set to.

Certain providers like Netflix have their own specific country settings in Getflix, and then a bunch of other providers are grouped together for selection, but none of these relate to iPlayer. All iPlayer needs is the DNS settings and current IP address in place.

Interesting, is that the same for iTV player?

Yes, so far as I know.  I didn't need to change anything in Dynamo in order to watch iTV Player.  Pity about the adverts, but they still have some good programmes.

DickDastardly: Unblock-Us, In my 5 minutes of playing with it (i got fed up with Unotelly) I think at least for me this seems to be the way to go, switching effortlessly between regions and (in my short assessment time, more to come tomorrow) not one "Content unavailable" message....all looking good so far....

I use getflix, I find it's cheaper, easier to use, and they have servers in NZ.

You get a free trial so you may want to try it out.  There is also an IOS app so you can control the region change from your iPad.

Remember when you are swapping regions you need to close the Netflix app and restart it, otherwise it can get horribly confused.... maybe this is where the content error message are happening?

Have you had any experience with GetFlix working along side an Apple TV?

I don't want no sugar in it - thank you very much

Yep, I have 2 Apple TV's an iPad Mini and an iPhone.

I use ATV to view Netflix.   I use iStreamGuide (app) on my phone to search for NetFlix Movies and TV as it tells you the regions the show is available in.  I then use the getflix app on my phone to switch regions... restart the netflix app on my ATV and hey presto.

I used to use Hulu plus as well but got sick of the ads on a subscription service so I cancelled it.

Do you have a specific question?

BBC iPlayer and ITV work with Unotelly regardless of what region Netflix is set to. Same with USA channels I watch occasionally like CBS or NBC. Region switch is only required for Netflix, apart from a few more obscure channels that may require a Dynamo change. Unotelly also has an app that provides quick Netflix region changes.

Only other changes I recommend are the first one below Netflix, turn subtitles OFF. This prevents Netflix movies from South America regions for example having subtitles which can't be turned off while playing. Watched the whole of Imitation Game with subtitles before I discovered this setting! Also the next option below that needs set to NZ to get TVNZ and 3 On Demand. Apart from that Dynamo is set and forget for me apart from Netflix.

I've tried a few program search sites but still return to lemontv.co.nz as you can save your settings to not just search all Netflix regions, but also Lightbox, NBC, CBS, Hulu etc.

Cheers, B.

Not as such...

Im currently on a Netflix trial and an Unblock-US trial.

Reading lots of support here for GetFlix and suggesting i should swap.

Im cautious as Unotelly really didn't work for me and couldn't change regions etc.  Unblock US has been working wonderfully...I'm just nervous to jump again....

If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Unless you're incredibly price sensitive stick with Unblock-Us if it's working for you. If you Google some reviews Unblock-Us is usually ranked at the top. I don't think you'll get 'more' from another service, they all do the same thing by and large.

My 2 cents, B.

I disagree with Boris, you get a month free trial with all these services so why not try a few until you find one you really like.

When I used it Unblock-Us didn't have a DNS in NZ and there was a noticeable performance difference.  This was through WD-TV live. They may have added a server since that time.
So a searched for a service with an NZ server and found Getflix, and to my joy it was also cheaper.  They have since added another NZ server.

They have also just released an app on Android and IOS that makes changing setting a lot easier.

The choice is yours... for me it was a no brainer.

P.S I have never used Unotelly but have heard it is a great service.  I have however heard a couple of people say they couldn't get it to work.

Actually, I've say on GZ the lovefest seems to be more with UnblockUS! Partly this may be due to the GZ discount that used to be offered to members.

That said, I've been totally happy with Getflix; when there has been an issue (say with ITV not working last week) they had it resolved within a few hours and emailed me updates.

Price-wise, Getflix is a quite a bit cheaper than Unblock US - $51 versus $77 on current US$ value, but it may offer some people additional features that make this worth it.

But, yeah, unless you need any additional features, why not give Getflix a trial and save a decent amount of dosh?

They've also recently added an 'affiliate' programme  - see https://www.getflix.com.au/affiliates/

In defence of Unotelly ... I had a few issues getting it cranked up but the customer service response was IMMEDIATE ... never seen the likes of it before. Sent a message through on their chat popup and within 10 minutes got an email back. When I emailed then again they responded within seconds.

Very happy with Unotelly ... have gone with gold which is not cheap NZD$100 but great guns so far.

Have now installed app on smartphone to see whats what.

Just thought I'd give an update as to my latest Global video supplier.

My trial with Unblock-US came to an end, so i next moved onto a Getflix trial.

My worries for moving seem to be unfounded as (in my 10 minutes of testing between regions) I can smoothly change worldwide locations and ive caught up on the end of season 3 of Hawaii 5-0 and season 3 of Blue Bloods, both on US Netflix and both in glorious HD loveliness!

More playing tomorrow but i think i may have found the service for me....

I've been using Getflix for a year. Love it. They've even sorted some issues that weren't their problem.

Regardless of which service i use (Unblock-Us/Getflix etc) my Apple TV keeps "loosing" my library under computers from the main screen.

Its really annoying and a problem thats only started since i started playing with Netflix.

The result in all my albums, photo's, movies and TV shows that i have in my iTunes library become lost, its like it looses the library and i have to reboot the Apple TV and its back again...

Anyone else have this problem??

Sounds like yet more reason to steer clear of the iTunes bloatware and simply use some sort of PC connected via HDMI cable to your TV.  Doing this avoids the need for AppleTV, Chromecast, FireTV etc and it's so simple.  Just use a wireless mouse and you're sorted.

No.... I don't do any home sharing though.  I use airplay to get content from other devices.

If you do a google search it seems home sharing issues are pretty wide spread.  Have a look at this: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT203311

What happens if you put the same DNS into your computer?
