Your prime sub will always bill successfully because they don't actually check where you're from when subscribing, just when you access content. Personally though, I just use a Citi account and associated debit card.

I had no problem accessing content with my NZ CC  on the site along with a gift voucher loaded..

I just subscribed to try Amazon Prime, I am able to watch the movies and tv shows using my browser, but when I tried to watch them with my Amazon Fire TV it said I was outside the allowable area (something like that). I have my router and Fire TV set with the dns4me settings, so should I be able to use my Fire TV to watch?

You probably have your Amazon account set to outside USA. You have  to change it to USA, remove the Fire TV from your account by resetting it and connecting it again.

From memory I setup my Prime account address the same as my YouShop address..

Do you mean I need to "deregister" the device in my amazon account and then register it again via the fire tv?

thanks,

David

I am guessing you have logged into dns4me and set your IP address under services? You can check if everything is set up correctly here

http://dns4me.net/check

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Okay up and running watching Prome now, just had to "deactivate" my account on the fire TV and then reactivate. All fine now. Haven't tried to purchase any movie or show, so not sure if this will work with my NZ credit card.

Thank you all for your help.

David

I assume you're using a FireTV box not a FireTV Stick??   If the box what's involved with changing DNS entries.   On the FireTV Stick being WiFi only you have to delete the whole WiFi account and recreate it again  and add the DNS as the last entry and it can be very hit and miss.

Thanks Old3eyes, yes it is a Fire TV box and will look at getting a gift card at Amazon, so that I can use it to purchase TV series or movie in the future.

Can you just change the DNS on the Fire TV box  without having to delete the whole network account??

I use my account for a lot of purchases so don't really want to remove my main card. Had a look and found the movie I want on NZ iTunes so will just use iTunes on my HTPC to watch it.

Seems a bit inconsistent that they allow a non-US card for Amazon Prime streaming but then won't allow you to rent or purchase a video.

I use two Amazon accounts, one for streaming and youshop purchases loaded with US address and Amazon gift card, and the other account with NZ address & debit card for my physical purchases going direct to NZ.
