We might buy the Mulan premier access, not sure yet. But I am astonished Disney+ did not do this with Hamilton. We've watched it multiple times and would have paid more than $40 to have early access to it.

steve98: Ok well I caved. We are a family of four who would absolutely have seen this at the movies and we’re actually supposed to be at Disneyland right now so we figured why the heck not. We were not disappointed, this is a beautiful movie that my two boys watched with mouths open end to end. Would recommend but if you wouldn’t have splashed on seeing it at the movies then by all means wait the three months. Your call.

Also watched it last night. Quite enjoyed it tbh. Hoping to see Black Widow on Premier Access next.

Watched it last night with the Missus. Not Bad,a slightly different take vs the Animated film. Looked mostly excellent in Dolby Vision but had to turn my home theatre up a little from its normal viewing setting. New Zealand does look awesome as a backdrop. Donnie Yen and Jet Li are always awesome but i sort of wished they upped the ante with the fight scenes and amount of violence. Especially regards the Bad Guy,Jason Scott Lee who looks like he stepped out of the 90s body wise...how the hell do they do that lol. He wasnt as ruthless as the  Hun leader from the animated Mulan so wasnt too scary as an opponent to be honest. But overall...not bad. Heres to Black Widow releasing in this format.

yea you can do it all inside the app at least on android and ios. Not sure how it works on the ps4 or xbox app. I assume its the same. Just got the Mulan page and there's a big yellow get premiere access button.

I am honestly shocked, that with the catalog Disney has, it couldn't muster better value than $40 for early access to 1 Movie. It's almost a joke. I'd love to see it, but i am not spitting out $40 for a movie, they are dreaming if they think that presents reasonable value.

Would cost the three of us more than $40 to go to the movies to see this. My granddaughter has her 15th birthday sleep over at our place next weekend so we'll buy this to keep them entertained.

Yeah I would easily spend more than $50 at the cinema so I'm fine with the value every now and then if it happens more often during covid. It's going to be on there as part of the base subscription cost soon enough anyway so if you don't think it's good value just wait until it's included.

A visual and audio review from SpareChange on Youtube if you are that way inclined. He has a pretty Hi End setup for viewing this sort of content.

There's a fair bit more complexity to pricing than just greed. The Universal problems with the cinema industry are pretty well publicised.

Pricing this too cheap slits the cinemas throats, which isn't good for Disney, at least in the short term.

There is certainly some greed, which is part of managements fiduciary duty, but there are a few moving parts here.

If you invested $200,000,000 into a product that had no foreseeable way of being consumed by the public through the medium it was designed for, you'd price it accordingly to get a return on your investment too.  Arguably they can reach more people with Disney+ than in cinemas, but people aren't used to paying for a new release movie so the pricing is going to be variable for a while until the market dictates where it should sit.  Same as it did with music streaming vs paying for individual tracks vs buying a CD, and other streaming services in comparison to physical media.

This is basically the price of blu-ray, I don't see a problem.
