SS app on Android 9 (Nokia 7.1 Plus) cast directly to a 2017 nvidia shield (Android TV 8); VDSL with 37 down of which I'm the only one using the connection.  Browser seemed better but didnt keep it on.

Interesting we have nearly identical hardware setups yet im not getting any stuttering.

Ive got a Nokia 7 Plus and a 2017 Shield TV. Im on Voyager UFB so that could be a thing.

I did just update and restart my shield. wonder if a restart would help it out?

Could be a latency / connection issue?  But then why would the browser not seem affected?  The Shield was reset about 20 minutes before the stream started as I accidentally unplugged it while tidying!

lagbort: iOS app casting to a Chromecast 2 on gigabit fiber

Still and slow moving scenes look great. Very noticeable stutter on panning shots.

Apples talk to Googles??

While I'm currently disappointed because of the micro stutter,  I don't want this to fail otherwise how would I get F1.

is it happening directly on the phone? or only during casting?

Yep phone has it too (was also reset to fix DRM issues earlier).  I'm not going to use the phone however as a comparison as that is running on AC wireless, the Shield is 1GB wired to my house setup (unifi 24 port etc.)  RSP is 2degrees.

Note I had exactly these issues with Colliseum / Neulion feeds with PLP; fast panning caused trouble with stutter.

is there a way to find the stream address, and then play it via VLC rather than a browser?

Right DRM issue on SS app is back.  Stopped the cast to see how the phone was going, kept the stream running and then went to cast again : DRM: License request failed with HTTP status 403.  Kill the app and restarting it solves the error.

Yes, I saw that. Wanted to keep with the SS stream as I can imagine they are looking at all the usage stats etc.

Really need that commentary!

Cannot start TVNZ on demand in PS4 or PS3 on demand apps.  Can watch both SS and Duke on demand on my Windows PC.  Picture seems a little better on SS.  But still no commentary (which is the only real interest for Practice).

never fear, smith is here
