Hold spark to account to what a free beta trial, you are kidding right?
be thankful you had a way of watching it

Quick clarification. After the event it may take up to 4 hours for the VOD asset to be created.
You can however watch the event from the start if you join while it's still running.

Well that's pretty crap to be honest. I used to record over night and watch before work (get up around 5), if it takes up to 4 hours then I'll be needing to go to work by the time it's ready and then I won't get it until home by which point I'll know results and also won't have time.
Live sport vod needs to be ready straight away otherwise you've lost the impact, this actually makes me unhappy.
I note your statement. If I respond in any more detail to you at this precise moment in time I will get myself in trouble.
I'll pass on your comment to the team.

Appreciate it. Note, I simply want this to succeed and be as good as Sky was simply because I haven't missed an F1 season in, well over 20 years, and also moaning about Spark having it won't change anything.
Panning seems better in FP2, less noticeable judder when it moves with lots of detail such as wide angle track shots. Still not sure exactly what the quality is its streaming at... Detail doesn't seem as sharp as it could be but without knowing the actual streaming quality (I've selected 1080p 6mbps) I can't say for certain.

It looks like you can watch FP1 from the start on TVNZOnDemand but not on SparkSport? Does TVNZ create the VOD asset on the fly (like the 6pm news) and Spark rely on its streaming partner to create the asset after the event has ended?

No for having the rights for F1 and not being completely ready for the start of the season.
Be thankful? If Spark hadn't got the rights then it would still be with Sky and that would have been fine, and if not them then it would be F1 Pro. There is a general expectation that if the rights have been purchased that they will show them, especially for sport. I understand that we have TVNZ for race 1 as a backup but if no one is using the system, how will they get the right feedback from people who actually care about the sports?
Interestingly the auto option isn't selecting the best quality, have to manually chose 1080p to get it there. Appears to work fine at that resolution so not sure why Auto is not doing it.

What device? What res does your device run in?
As before, although lots of posts means it might not be seen...
Nokia 7.1 plus casting to a wired 1gbe nvidia sheild TV using VDSl with 37/7 connection on 2degrees.
My partner also confirmed the micro stutter exists and commented on how poor it looked as a result. Static image quality is great, in motion not so good.
Edit: Sorry TV/Shield is running at 1080p @ 60hz
davidcole: Anyone else (iOS). Only getting commentary and very little track sounds? And it seems quite disjointed In That they’re doing bits to Camera but the feed doesn’t show it.
I don’t know if this is normal as I’ve not watch f1 for years.
Other than that the picture looks really good (iOS to chromecast)
Android App (Nokia 7.1 plus > Shield TV 2017) has crashed again, causing the casting to stop and stream to fail, 3rd time today and 2nd time during FP2. Are logs easily available? As soon as I restart the app, the cast starts again so the casting is still live but the app crash is causing it to stop.

I believe it’s because they have the Sky UK commentary feed, but the international video feed. One of the spark guys mentioned it should have both uk audio and video tomorrow...
I’m doing a comparison between spark sport and Kayo Sports, video feed very comparable but the spark website/app/viewing experience has a long way to go until it reaches kayo’s Standard. Kayo feed has uk sky feed which has ads, I wonder what spark sport intends to do when uk sky go to ads? I assume this is just in practice sessions though.

Sorry but that's not a very well thought through remark. F1 is one of the world's most popular sports and it's viewing rights cost a bomb. It is streamed world-wide in quality, but we can't access that because Spark bought the rights. Spark should have their sh!t together on this from Day 1.
As for suggesting it's a free trial ... show me a service that doesn't give you a cheap or free starter package?
Unimpressed at the moment. But, to be conciliatory, yes it is "only" practice so far. They need to have their ducks in a row by Saturday.
And I support the remark above that OD means available immediately after. 4 hours later will not suit F1 fans. The news (and our mates) is/are full of the results by then.
never fear, smith is here
Fp2 has finished, where is the post practice stuff? Is this due to the video feed being world wide rather than Sky UK?

That would be the reason.
