garvani: Full user manual has been discovered if your that way inclined.

thats where i got the power info from :)

ahh i see. Still no information about a switchable psu, ive asked the question elsewhere.. you would assume it would but you never know.

It's not going to be a transformer one so chances are high it will be universal. If not a 30 watt step down is dirt cheap if you don't already own any.

trig42: Does that mean you'd be able to sideload TV3 and TVNZ ondemand? Or can you not get hold of the packages to do that or will they only work on a Samsung?

That said, and OT, why haven't Samsung released a similar box? Maybe it would hurt SmartTV sales?

It would hurt the sales of their bluray players. I know 2 people that have bought them and basically only put dvds they already had into them since they just wanted the smart tv stuff.

The smart tv bluray I got for mum was locked to only outputting 50hz in apps so made a mess of most youtube content.

not sure if it would hurt them that much.  they recently stopped supporting paid apps in their smart hub store (apps have to do their own payment stuff now).  the reason google tv was slow to be picked up was the hardware made the tvs/brp more expensive as they had minimum requirements.  but hardware is cheaper now and theres tvs coming out with "Android" inside (dropped "google tv").

they probably just thought the market was too small ATM.  sony jumped into google tv, but that never really took off.

This will be interesting, mine left to shipito earlier this morning. Will be able to directly compare shipping costs and delivery times. I was considering youshop but went with shipito (not entirely sure why)

I'm putting my amazon order in today as I had to top up the credit card. Might wait to see the relative costs from youshop and shipito. Am keen to support shipito as they will consolidate and deal with pallets which youshop don't.

If it can have xbmc installed, has good codec support and can browse a network share - then it could be awesome.
I guess the thing is to see what the clever hackers of the world can do with it once they get their hands on it.

Im not quite at seeing it as a 'must buy' - but its on the 'would like to play with' list.

Thanks for suggesting the NZ post shipping site. Also never realised you could just change your amazon shipping address and they will ship there. Thought you would have to create a whole new Amazon log in.

I'm quite tempted, though I'd feel happier knowing content from a prime membership and other things like netflix and hulu worked before I pressed the button. Not sure how much it would give me over raspberry pi and xbmc. For $99 it's hard to beat.

Can it play files from USB/SMB Share?

Netflix and amazon etc will work with a vpn subscription, like any other device on the market running in NZ (atv and roku etc).

SMB share works fine with xbmc. Ive only seen one person comment on the usb drive, xbmc could see the drive but couldn't access the contents, the user hasn't come back to answer follow up questions yet.

Not sure about any other players such as mxplayer accessing usb drives. Wish i had one in my hands so i could answer my own questions!

I'd be only interested if it was able to do it via DNS.

I wasn't asking if XBMC works with SMB I know it does, I mean the FireTV
