Im liking Netflix US at the moment for things I either missed on TV or something to watch filling the gap inbetween masterchef's kitchen rules the block cooking renovation challenge :p

etc

None are particularly prime time (ok maybe Arrow?) but given I'm not fanatical about them and happy to flick between seasons when available, timing is not overly crucial, just that they are there. If Netflix NZ has similar catalog of current but older season shows then I may not need to utilise US account. It must have fullHD 5.1 streaming (preferably super HD) then it may be worth a shot.

I like the US Netflix for the US stuff, I will be giving it a go when it arrives in New Zealand however my hopes are very low so anything better than Lightbox would be a bonus. Lightbox was very disappointing for me with a HUGE lack of content having a few Exclusives wont get me as a customer, having a wide rang of content will and documentary's will.

I suspect Unotelly will add NZ Netflix to their channel choice list, so we can just click on NZ and see what they are offering, if we don't like it we can click back to US/UK etc

Good point, but do you expect one provider to provide all that you want? Competition is great, but that will also cause fragmentation, that was evident in EPL. "WAF and kids want Sky so I have to pay extra to get EPL" Yet before that it was Sky is a monopoly. Some content providers will not want their supposedly prime content everywhere, thats out of control of the TV system provider

PoHq: It will be good to see their mobile apps in local app stores to. Such a pain running a U.S. iTunes account just to have the Netflix app.

Why run a US iTunes account just to get Netflix? Surely a UK iTunes will get you so much more? - BBC iplayer, TV Now, ITV player, BBC Sport, 4oD etc etc?

There is SO much more available than Netflix (which I love).

They provide a free service so I have no problem whatsoever with adverts, but their long lived 'limited Samsung devices only' and refusal to do anything further deserves to get smacked for six.

Yeah that's ridiculous and really annoys me. I'm pretty sure Samsung paid them for some sort of exclusivity deal, that's the only reason they'd do it.

Not quite true. Samsung provided the IP and programming for the (Samsung) app. What's wrong with that?

Every other provider had or still has the same opportunity to produce a working app for both TVNZ and TV3 etc.

When you say that's the only reason "they" would do it. Who do you mean? Do you mean Samsung would pay to keep everybody else out? In other words "they" would develop an app for "their" platform (Samsung) that purposely keeps every other TV manufacturer out (LG, Panasonic, Sony) etc?

Please .... don't blame the manufacturer that has invested in the platform. Wake up. Blame the manufacturer that could not be bothered to provide "added value" to such a small NZ market.

Yep. Samsung has been very proactive in App space and pushed things along. The "OEM's" such as Sky, TVNZ, TV3 really need to be on all devices and it is up to them to sort it. If Samsung is holding them up then it is the providers fault for signing such a long deal....

The timing of the announcement was perfect for Prime News and they got ahead of all the other broadcasters by putting this on as their top story

If I was looking to 'blame' anyone, it would be the lazy content providers. It's up to them to push things if they want the customers.
